Long, different, good VFM!
I played the course today, Nov 16th, and she was in pretty darn good nick tbf so hats off to the greenskeepers. I work on the site, but am not a member here, so see just how busy the greenskeepers are. They never stop. Every bunker was raked, greens cut and there was work appearing to be going on over different parts of the course. To try to compare this course to any other I really struggle, it really doesn’t remind me too much of any other course I’ve played.
Set in a lovely area the course meanders around the handsome Heythrop Park house, which is a nice drive itself into the venue. There are great views of the house on offer on the 11th and 18th holes. There are 8 holes with water hazards but it only feels as if 3 of them really come in to play.
The signature hole is difficult to pick as the 5, 6, 8, 11, 13 and 18 are all notable for bags of character or uniqueness but the 6th Just pips it for me. It really is handsome, if Capability Brown had been in the business of designing golf courses back in the day then the 6th would have been one of his!
So the good bits, it’s quite different, intriguing, challenging, the greens are super even for Nov, it’s good value for money and much of the time it’s really quiet. There’s a smashing view walking down 18, which by the way needs some bunkers adding to give it more life.
The bad bits, we’ll there aren’t that many but, there’s some long steep up and down walks between some holes on the back 9. If you’re an older/unfit player I would recommend a buggy but £20 for a buggy! Seriously? Also 3 or 4 holes could do with some more work as more character is required for eg holes 3, 4, 16 and 17 are all “ok”.
Overall, handsome, enjoyable, well done to the keepers, good VFM but sort the cost of a buggy out please.
Will definitely be back.

Great Course
Course was in good condition and played well. At least 6 memorable holes which would be signature holes elsewhere. Only problem is quite hilly and a long walk so would suggest a buggy!Reviewer Rating

Heythrop Park
Lovely golf course, some tricky holes but also a chance to score points. Nice and quiet for a Saturday morning and played at a good pace.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 96 Handicap: 19.1)

Nice course
Really nice course. Definitely need a buggy as the distance between holes is quite long. The greens were in great condition and hard to read so made it and interesting round of golf.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 93 Handicap: 20.3)

Interesting & Different
An interesting course in the grounds of an old historic house tuned into a hotel and conference center. The course is spread out through the estate grounds and a good long walk and quite a lot of walking from green to tee so good shoes and an electric cart advisable. This did however make the course interesting and lovely views of the Cotswolds and the estate grounds. We paid ?17.50 per head on a deal for a four ball with bacon rolls & coffee so were very happy at the value for money at that price. Weekends before 12pm are ?45 a round!! - the course and paths are not that well manicured to justify that cost, look out for the deals would be my advice. Would I return - yes a good challenge, good excercise, great countryside a different course not simply up and down fairways.Reviewer Rating

I did feel that the first cut of rough was a little long and with dandelions in full seed we wasted a lot of time finding balls that had only just missed fairways. The meandering nature of the course meant that walking it with trolleys was demanding, but the views of wildlife and water features made the hike worthwhile.
Well worth a visit.

Heck of a walk
Nice course, starts of fairly straight, but some lovely holes later in the round making you think about shots. There is a lot of walking between holes on the back 9, we agreed on buggies if we played again. Course was good, but we felt it needed a little bit of attention on it, some of the greens were a bit patchy.(Round played: Sep 2017 - Score: 101 Handicap: 24.3)

Great course, but get a Buggy!!
Beautiful setting, some really interesting holes, BUT there are some treks from greens to tees, one must be nearly half a mile, or just felt like it!!!Would play again as really pleasant, but would have a buggy.

A hidden Gem
Had a great time playing is amazing scenery, a beautiful course that's as nice as any I've played on. The only thing that let it down was the quality of the greens and bunkers.Reviewer Rating
