What the club says: Located on the edge of the Cotswolds and only 15 minutes drive from the Oxford Hotel, this 6,500 yard lakeland course was designed by the internationally renowned architect, Simon Gidman. Hazards include no less than five lakes, 67 bunkers as well as natural hedgerows, gorse, tall grass and trees. Each hole poses a different challenge and a number stand out including the 187 yard 8th - a par 3 over water with trees encroaching to the left of the green - a shot that needs accuracy and distance control.

Enjoyed playing here
I am an occasional visitor to the area. I booked directly with the club , can only do 3 days in advance but still got my preferred tee time . Warm welcome , facilities and parking good. Members friendly . Pleasant course , bunkers aplenty and water to avoid. Reasonably and realistically priced for a 1 ball for afternoon session. Not too busy. 3 hours for 18 holes. Course Map on score card was helpful and holes clearly numbered.Reviewer Rating

Very Average
Prices have sky rocketed in recent months for a round plus an extra £1 on a bucket of 50 balls now making it £7.Just checked on their website and they wanted £90 for a one or two ball.
The course is very average, there has been some improvements to the greens but the fairways are still poor and the price there asking is way too high for this course.
I do not recommend playing this course until they drop the price to about £25 in the week, that's all it's worth.

Country Club Golf Course
Woodland course, with several water hazard holes. Challenging & enjoyable. As it's a leisure/country club first & foremost, the golf club side has a sterile feel to it. Good mixture of Par 3s, 4s & 5s. One downside is that there is a poultry farm very close by, and the stink is sometimes quite overpowering, especially when wet, and the wind is blowing towards you!..Reviewer Rating

Lovely Course
For a course that has 'lakes' in the name, I maybe expected to see more water. It is still a nice course though. It's fairly flat, so very easy walking. There are a couple of holes where they could certainly provide a sign to get you to the next tee the (the 9th and 17th, I think). The fairways mostly seem fairly wide from the tee, but the 2nd cut creeps in a lot closer to the middle than you may think. Having played it only the once I didn't remember too many of the holes, but the par 3 8th (water from tee to green) and the par 4 18th (water and clubhouse left of the green) appeared to be the nicest looking. The whole course will test you though.
The course is certainly a pleasure to play, without ever really being spectacular. The tees and greens are in good condition, there are nice practice facilities to get you warmed up, and the clubhouse (part of the hotel) seemed nice enough too.

Very nice course
Witney Laked has certainly grown into itself since I played here first in the 90s, a very good course with varied holes and challenges. We didn't stay after the round due to timings.Reviewer Rating

Good holes
Good course layout with some good holes. Greens excellent. Fairways poor. In the summer would imagine will be bare. Requires investment in sorting out the fairways. If they do be a very good course.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 101 Handicap: 18.3)

No lying water on the fairways or greens, some in a few bunkers but not an issue. Greens were immaculate and quite fast, difficult to read.
Clubhouse always friendly with a good breakfast even mid afternoon.
Would always recommend the course.

Cotswold Gem
A lovely course, with an excellent sports bar & restaurant.Driving range is light & airy, and it's all very friendly.
Some challenging holes, notably the par 3 8th over an interesting water hazard, the long par 3 12th, and the par 4 16th, with the green surrounded by bunkers & ditches. Some wide forgiving fairways, and some interesting dog-legs, with fairly tight pinch points along the way.
The 18th back into the clubhouse is scenic, and has a challenging water hazard to negotiate to get onto the green.
A very enjoyable round of golf, albeit during the summer drought, so in part looked quite brown and arid, but it has to be said that the tee-off areas, and the greens were in spanking condition.
?25 for 18 holes for the visitor (summer 2018).
Recommended.

Some good holes here of reasonable length, proper par 4?s with a drive and long iron into the green. Nice and tight now trees are growing and greens are ok. Only minor point is it is bit boggy in places but we have had a lot or rainReviewer Rating

Witney Lakes, a little gem
First time playing here. Course drying out nicely. Some very picturesque holes. Some very narrow fairways, but then there some that are nearly 60 yards wide, so a good mix and challenge. A few holes have the aroma of pig farming, but thats normal out in the sticks !! Excellent facilities that you'd expect from a resort centre, spa, gym, etc. Friendly staff all around. Would go back again.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 87 Handicap: 19.6)
