Could be fantastic but...
I have just done a golf trip to De Vere Wokefield (8-10 Oct). Like many other comments I can confirm two things: 1.) the greens are shocking, actually is a disgrace for such a facility. 2.) the course plays very slow, 5 1/2 hrs, 5 hrs, and 5 1/4 hrs for the 3 rounds we played. There are just too many tee times and then they put one/two balls between 4 balls! It made the overall experience disappointing. To give a balanced review, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast and dinners were ok and the bar had a good selection of drinks. It seemed there was a shortage of staff given the volume of people at the venue. This can be a great golf break, just sort the greens and speed of play.Reviewer Rating

Way too wet.......
Plenty of rain had fallen before we got there and plenty fell while we were there. Many courses would have been shut but, this being a resort course they'll let you out whatever the conditions to avoid any question of a refund. The fairways were either waterlogged or very muddy. Anywhere a trolley or many feet had been was basically a bog. Front of the greens was a complete lottery because of one or other of theses conditions. Bunkers were mostly half full of water and totally unplayable. Surprisingly, the greens were in decent condition.
However, I'm not sure I'd have been that impressed even if the weather hadn't intervened.
The tee boxes were unkempt and uneven. Same could be said of most of the fairways. From the tee it was difficult to see any difference between the fairway and first cut. On some holes that was also the case when you got to your ball.
Overall the place feels disjointed. The mansion is magnificent, but golfers are moved out of site with the bar and pro shop around the back of the 'leisure' block. (That's where we ate in the evening too.) If you fancy a bacon roll it comes out of a warmer in the tiny pro shop. Nothing like it on the menu in the bar. (Amazing that they don't appear do any kind of breakfast / snack for golfers there.)
Evening food was very good as was the room. The hotel staff were very friendly and obliging.
Would I go back? I don't think I would rush.

Very Poor
For a course connected to a hotel and conference centre the course was in very poor condition. Signage from green to tee was non-existent, for first time players it's a nightmare to find your way around. Tees were very poor although the greens were in good condition and true!Reviewer Rating

Tough course not in good condition
Tired course overused. Green OK but tee boxes shocking. To many blind holes with hidden bunkers, ditches or streams. Bunkers everywhere which got a bit tiresome...(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 108 Handicap: 22.4)

First timer at Wokefield
Played course on 14 May 19. Nicely landscaped and challenging, but greens were in very poor condition and as a first timer to the course some next tee signage would have been helpful.Reviewer Rating

Needs some work...
I have played this course several times as I like the layout and varied challenge but haven't played in the last 2 years. The course condition was the poorest I've seen it in. Greens varied in colour and pace and very uneven, the tee boxes were the worst I've played on in many years with some covered in weeds and there were weeds growing in bunkers. Perhaps they will name the holes like at Augusta, but Dandelion, Moss, and Clover just don't have the same appeal.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 98 Handicap: 18.9)

Golf at Wokefield
Hot sunny day, fairways burnt, greens like fuzzy felt.Played here recently with a couple of friends. Mid price I would say at £33.
Lots and lots of sand. Some interesting holes but nothing special. 19th hole incredibly expensive and just not worth it. Be careful on the 18th as the driving range is close by. We were bombarded and the fairway was strewn with stray balls.
