The front 9 holes are in terrible condition, the fairways are so poorly maintained that is is like playing a shot out the rough. They cut the grass but do not bother gathering the grass clippings. You are guaranteed to have cut grass interfering with your shot every time. It was our first time playing there so we were unaware of the course layout which is usually not a problem as most course have arrows and sign directing you around the course, not this place, they haven't bothered putting signs up, pretty much expecting you to use 'the force' to find your way around. Considering they're charging £20 for a round there are many other much nicer courses around for the same price or cheaper e.g Bluemountain, BIrd HIlls, Downshire and Huntswood.

Played on a twilight rate of £15 on 30th April 2014, and received a warm welcome in the clubhouse as a first time visitor

As others have said, the rough is dense in places and the grass on some fairways and most green approaches needed cutting. Lots of standing water on a few fairways, (7th, 11th, 14th & 16th), and there were a number of water filled bunkers. Considering the amount of the rain, the greens have held up well, although they were slow.

However, overall it's a good test as it plays longer than the scorecard and you need to keep out of the rough. But you will need to wait for drier conditions for a more accurate opinion.

Had an early tee of 8am. Staff were helpful and the course was under some renovation and ideas looked really intuitive.
Unfortunately the greens were all very sandy/gritty.

Any ball not on the fairway is in very close, dense growth that is almost impossible to play a shot out. The only way I can cut through it is by playing a 60 degree wedge. This spoils the round for anyone over except low handicappers.

I've played here quite a bit and I would say it's a good length and a fair challenge for the higher handicappers but I feel a low handicap player would eat it up for dinner. The rough is always tricky, often difficult to get a clean connection. The fairways are not always cut as often as one would like leaving you wondering sometimes if you're playing from the first cut. The greens are always slow and some would say do not present much of a challenge (but somehow I can still manage to find spots to 3 putt from!). In Winter and SPring the course can be very wet due to how low it is and poor darinage although there is always work going on trying to remedy this as much as possible. All this sounds negative I know, but for all the downs to this course I still enjoy playing here as when you play well it rewards but when you do not play well it spanks your behind.
