The course was better than expected after two days of torrential rain. The clubhouse and breakfast was very good. The secretary was very welcoming and looked after our needs. The greens were challenging.

Quite a few holes where the flag isn't in sight either because of the dog-leg or because it's truely a blind tee shot over a hill or trees.
Excellent clubhouse and bar.
One gripe, some of the bunkers need a deal more sand in them.
One question - Why have different code numbers for members and visitors changing rooms when it's effectively one big room linked by the showers? Actually, why have different doors?

A Glorious Hidden Gem - 5 Star Course
This came on my radar after a friend recommended it and having viewed the course on-line and seen the Green Fees compared with competing quality courses across the County felt compelled to give it a go.I was not disappointed. With a County Card the weekday Green Fee of £50 is a relative bargain for a course of this quality and consistency. I'd describe as a cross between The London Club and Tandridge GC and far better value.
There may be a lack of overall wow factor and perhaps even a lack of standout holes but that's because there a really good holes throughout especially on the back nine.
Interesting green complexes with fast rolling greens, intelligently placed bunkers and run off areas for loose shoots. Even the long grass rough was set back far enough to punish genuinely poor shots rather than just decent shots that rolled across the hard dry fairways.
The ability to make use of proper practise facilities as well gets them more kudos with a separate putting and chipping area as well as a full grass range. You can see why they are able to host Open Regional Qualifying.
RCGC was really hard to fault.

Great course
We played it 2 weeks before the regional qualifying for the Open and so course was in great condition. The rough was being allowed to grow higher and thicker but we were able to find our balls in it even if we sometimes couldn't advance it too far. There are no water hazards but plenty of trees. Greens were fast but not too slick as greens are sloping and there are some devilish places were pins could go. Well worth a visit if you can as you are made to feel welcomeReviewer Rating
