What the club says: The first record of Golf being played at Gillingham was in 1905. Formally laid out by James Braid in 1919 and constructed by the army, the course remains a challenge after being updated by Donald Steel in the 1990s with its tree lined fairways and small fast greens. Situated in the Medway Towns within 10 minutes of the M2, Gillingham is ideally situated to welcome visitors from all over the country.

Narrow tree lined course

Nice course but 2 temps very muddy in places but not if you can stay on the fairways. Several tricky greens with hidden borrows but that adds to the challenge. Will be much better in the drier weather. Pro-shop very friendly but club-house bar nearly empty when we played - very little atmosphere unfortunately but again I'm sure it will improve when the weather gets better.

The greens were in very good condition. The tight fairways makes this a very challenging course. Good clubhouse. Shame I had to park in the road out side the club due to the car park being full.

No push over

Immaculate fairways and consistent greens. Not at all long overall but some long par4's and one very long par5. So no push over.

Course ok. Members not so.

Course is fine park land course, tight tree lines fairways. Not long but you have to resist hitting driver unless you are straight. Not always obvious where next tees are as a main road cuts through course and you have to cross it a few times. Atmosphere at club was quite unwelcoming though, got shouted at by a four ball of members as we couldn't find next tee ???? we also let a members 2 ball through, one of them accidentally played one of our balls and just chucked it back down the fairway without apology ???? as I say, course is fine but members let themselves down.

Covid 19 restrictions. Course condition poor considering no play for 10 weeks. Greens slow and bumpy fairways ok. Tees were very poor. Tricky shortish course. Need to be accurate off tee. Lots par 3s but 3 excellent par 5s
