Disappointing experience

Extremely disappointed with our recent trip to play Pennard. We paid the normal green fee and also hired 2 buggies for a 4pm tee time. We reached the 8th tee in after around 1hr 40 mins, and had been caught up by the first of 5 groups playing alternate shot matches. We tried to let them through and keep moving forward, but as we were waiting in the 8th fairway for the group we had let through to clear the green, the group behind were hitting their tee shots straight at us. We let the next group through on the 9th tee and the samething happened again, the next group hit tee shots straight at us and almost hit us while we were in view, waiting for the 9th green to clear. A pennard staff member came out and informed us we would need to let the matches play through, so for our safety we decided to wait on the 10th tee for the final 3 groups to play through. We couldn't tee off on the 10th until 7:40, 1 hour before sunset. We only managed to finish 13 holes before the light ran out. We felt incredibly hard done by having not been informed that there was a match teeing off straight after us, and paying full price for a four ball. I called the office and was informed that the first match shouldn't have started until 5pm, 1 hour after we started. They absolutely must have started earlier than that. As we were staying in Swansea for a few days I asked if there was any way we could return and either play again, or even play just the back 9. The man I spoke with (Reece) said that he would speak to the team captain and get back in touch with me, and that he couldn't believe that the matches caught us up so early. Unfortunately, I never heard back from the club over the following 3 days we were still in Swansea. Considering our group paid a total of £350 for golf and buggies, plus extra for pro shop purchases, we were left very frustrated after looking forward to this round of golf for a long time. The lack of communication from the club was unacceptable considering their reputation  and I will not be recommending Pennard to anyone that I speak to as they seem to have been happy to take our money and not allow us to play the full course.

Really good links course. Not personally keen on the roaming walkers who seem to appear on every hole on their way to the beach. The quality of course however is excellent. Tough for a visitor group who have no prior course knowledge as a lot of blind shots to contend with. Views are spectacular on many parts of this course. One of the v.best in Wales

Great course

Fantastic course and the greens were in excellent condition. Great hospitality with friendly staff. The fairways were a little bare and patchy in places. We played in windy but dry conditions. Fantastic views all around you.

Top class Links in the Sky

Known as the "Links in the sky" sits on top of cliffs overlooking 3 Cliffs Bay into Oxwich Bay, views spectacular and a challenging course that undulates through heather and reed grass. Greens superb. Pro shop welcome great (with indoor electronic studio) and practice facilities good. Club house welcome excellent. Food of very high standard and well presented.

Nice links course but every green roped off with electric wires to keep animals off became a bit of a pain towards the end of the round.

Wonderful layout and a challenge in blustery conditions. Don't expect pristine condition fairways but you get a true links challenge. Green and tee boxes are very good

Heaven On A Golf Course

If you want a challenge yet at the same time some of the finest views you’re likely to find on a course then Pennard is the one for you. Great mix of holes, fantastic greens, very natural layout and some heavenly views!! I for one will be back here.

Captains charity day

Played Pennard for the captains charity day. Really well organised and a great day was had. The wind made the course a good test. Greens were slick and true to putt on. The course I'd a great layout with a variety if differing and challenging holes. Thoroughly recommend a visit

great spot on the Gower

We had a monsson for nearly 2 hours as we were arriving but amazingly the skies cleared for our T time and the course was not waterlogged anywhere...
Amazing scenary and views and the course is in great condition , but due to the setting, proper links course , its not manicured fairways but greens were fast and true.
All in all a must visit course

Wonderful setting on The Gower

This was our 3rd course on a golf weekend in South Wales and was well worth the visit. Fantastic views across the Bristol Channel and Three Cliffs Bay form the backdrop to this very challenging links style course.

Overplayed

Played on a wet and windy June day. Reception at clubhouse excellent, very welcoming. Practice facilities very good. Course was very scrubby, most fairways very bare and pitted; hard to know if you were on. Either overgrazed by the cows or grass was dead. Greens and surrounds were superb.
