Ok for the money

A shame, it all just seems to have past its prime, about 10 years or so back.. The greens vary from good to poor, only one par 5 but lots of long repetitive par 4’s and the course has been rearranged and doesnt match the block numbers on the tees for some reason. Despite a peak tee time the clubhouse was deserted and the club shop closed. We luckily found an old score card we managed to use, All a bit odd reslly as it just felt a bit ghostly !

First 7 holes are boring, most greens are rubbish.

Great course layout with a few challenging holes. If the wind is blowing course plays a lot longer on certain holes. As said In other reviews the par 5 8th is the feature hole here, a great risk and reward hole if you go for the green in two.
If your in the area this is a must course and a bargain at that. Only bad point is they could do with more care on the bunkers, it was like concreate when I played.

Greens are poor, bunkers have more stones than sand and need some TLc. Fairways, tee areas pretty good. Club house has limited meal offerings and the beer isn't great. Cleaning the glasses occasionally might be a start. Enormous potential here with the right management structure.

The Gower Golf Club is a lovely place for a round of golf. It can suffer from waterlogging in the winter but on a dry day, you can have the course to yourself and enjoy the beauty of the Gower scenery whilst trying to put a decent round together.

Fabulous parkland course with a variety of uphill, downhill, and sloping lies. The Summer course is one of the best in the area.

Perfect weather for this eighteen holes, there had been a little rain earlier in the day which gave the greens the chance to accept a good approach shot but did reduce the roll on tee shots. No wind at all and even though the greens had been hollow tinned recently they played pretty well overall. It's a relatively forgiving course but if you do find some of the more penal rough finding your ball will be an issue! The eighth down hill par 5 is the most talked of hole because of the water protecting the front and right of the green but a good tee shot and a bit of run and you can be hitting a mid iron into the green, I think the 10th is worth a mention, another par 5 with a stream that splits the fairway into 3, the driving area allows for a fairly safe tee shot through a 75 yard tree lined tee area, a good drive gives you the opportunity to play a hybrid or fairway wood if you are feeling lucky to a green surrounded by mature trees or you play to the 2nd part of the fairway to leave you a wedge to the green. Give Gower a go, it's a great test that rewards good shots.
