What the club says: The course was voted 55th out of the top 100 UK Golf Courses and is located just 8 miles west of Swansea on the Gower Peninsula, designated the UK’s first area of outstanding natural beauty. There is not a weak or a prosaic hole on this short gorse and heather framed, 6,809 yard, par 71 track. Awkward lies and stances are a matter of course and the rugged terrain becomes even more dramatic on the back nine. Beware also, the forty bunkers, which although not exceptionally large, are very well placed and sometimes lethal! Pennard's most remarkable hole may be the 351 yard 7th, which heads out to sea from a high, noble tee. The line of flight between the sparse ruins of a 13th century church and more imposing remnants of Pennard Castle, which dates from the 1100's, presents one unforgettable experience.

Open weekOutstanding condition for open week. A real links test with amazing views and great hospitality
Fantastic courseInteresting and challenging. Greens in great condition and the VIEWS
Disappointing experienceExtremely disappointed with our recent trip to play Pennard. We paid the normal green fee and also hired 2 buggies for a 4pm tee time. We reached the 8th tee in after around 1hr 40 mins, and had been caught up by the first of 5 groups playing alternate shot matches. We tried to let them through and keep moving forward, but as we were waiting in the 8th fairway for the group we had let through to clear the green, the group behind were hitting their tee shots straight at us. We let the next group through on the 9th tee and the samething happened again, the next group hit tee shots straight at us and almost hit us while we were in view, waiting for the 9th green to clear. A pennard staff member came out and informed us we would need to let the matches play through, so for our safety we decided to wait on the 10th tee for the final 3 groups to play through. We couldn't tee off on the 10th until 7:40, 1 hour before sunset. We only managed to finish 13 holes before the light ran out. We felt incredibly hard done by having not been informed that there was a match teeing off straight after us, and paying full price for a four ball. I called the office and was informed that the first match shouldn't have started until 5pm, 1 hour after we started. They absolutely must have started earlier than that. As we were staying in Swansea for a few days I asked if there was any way we could return and either play again, or even play just the back 9. The man I spoke with (Reece) said that he would speak to the team captain and get back in touch with me, and that he couldn't believe that the matches caught us up so early. Unfortunately, I never heard back from the club over the following 3 days we were still in Swansea. Considering our group paid a total of £350 for golf and buggies, plus extra for pro shop purchases, we were left very frustrated after looking forward to this round of golf for a long time. The lack of communication from the club was unacceptable considering their reputation and I will not be recommending Pennard to anyone that I speak to as they seem to have been happy to take our money and not allow us to play the full course.
A must play courseAfter a 3.5 hour drive the links in the sky was a bit of a challenge on a very hot day. OK not the best manicured course but the greens were excellent and only surpassed by the views. Breakfast in the clubhouse was first class.

Fantastic course but choose a calm dayPennard is a great course with good greens. We were lucky to play on a calm dry day but expect it could break you spirits if windy. Fabulous views on many of the holes. Definitely play here if you are in the area. And avoid the cows strolling around the course.

Great courseFantastic course and the greens were in excellent condition. Great hospitality with friendly staff. The fairways were a little bare and patchy in places. We played in windy but dry conditions. Fantastic views all around you.
Truly the Links in the SkyFantastic welcome and a great course. Really challenging course with some sublime holes with a second to none finishing 3 holes. Great clubhouse and unrivalled views of Oxwich Bay and Three Cliffs Beach. Greens superb fairways have suffered this summer but lots of work evident to bring up to championship standard.
Nice course terrible conditionMy mate played this course 6 years ago and was raving about playing it again. Green were in good condition but the rest of the course had no grass on the fairways. It sits overlooking the sea and is wind blown badly. Shame really could be a great course. And no buggies available on hottest day of the year due to course conditions.

Top class Links in the SkyKnown as the "Links in the sky" sits on top of cliffs overlooking 3 Cliffs Bay into Oxwich Bay, views spectacular and a challenging course that undulates through heather and reed grass. Greens superb. Pro shop welcome great (with indoor electronic studio) and practice facilities good. Club house welcome excellent. Food of very high standard and well presented.
PennardBeautiful looking course. Fairways had lots of slopes and it was tricky keeping the ball from running off. Too many blind drives but the greens were fast and true.
