Merrist wood
Unfortunately the weather has taken its toll on the course, fairways and greens both not in great condition. Despite that, a challenging course which definitely tests you!Reviewer Rating

Get there quickly
Once it had a membership, now pay and play[cheaper on-line]. Soon to close for 3 yr development. Play it at least once before it disappears. It is being allowed to run down.Reviewer Rating

Parched
I like Merrist Wood and it is a good layout. Sadly the hot weather has absolutely couched the course. The fairways were bone dry, as you would expect but the tees were so dry, the grass had died and it was just dust on several of them. The greens were bumpy and needed some attention. There was little sand in the bunkers and the whole course felt neglected.
The kitchen was closed although there was some hot food available behind the bar and the pro shop was shut, with a small offering of balls and gloves in one corner of the bar.
It was a real shame to see the course and facilities like this. The staff were very friendly though, which was good.

Great course
Quite difficult course but in very good nick apart from some bunkers being a bit short of sand. Very good value compared to others in the area.Reviewer Rating

Nice course, good value
Nice course, great value. Very challenging with tons of bunkers and water hazards, was very hot day and bunkers were rock hard, condition of course is fairly good considering how hot it has been. Very good value for money. Friendly people in nice little clubhouse.Reviewer Rating

Good test of your game
Played here for the first time in many years and was pleasantly surprised by the course and clubhouse. Although a little longer than the courses we play regularly the wide fairways made it very enjoyable. Greens were quick and true, the only downside was some of the bunkers needed a bit of TLC.The clubhouse was very nice and the staff were very friendly. Would recommend a round here to any competent golfer.

Value for money
Course is in hands of a potential developer and so it is not receiving the upkeep that it normally would and so that is reflected in the tee rates, particularly at weekend. Fairways suffering from worm casts and not a lot of run but greens fine. Tough course but a good challenge.Reviewer Rating
