What the club says: Initial tee shots, particularly the drives, must be carefully directed to the right place to set up a chance of hitting the correct part of the green if one wishes to avoid all thought of a three putt on subtly undulating surfaces. Whilst the white tees will test the skills and patience of the very best golfers, there is much satisfaction to be obtained from playing the friendlier front tees.

One of the best
I used to play here every year from the late 1970’s until the late 1990’s, when our event was ,oved, so I was looking forward to playing here again. West Hill Golf Club is one of those courses that feels timeless the moment you step onto the property. Set within mature Surrey heathland, it blends classic design with an atmosphere of quiet exclusivity, offering a round that’s as strategic as it is scenic.The course isn’t long by modern standards, but that’s part of its brilliance. Tight, tree-lined corridors demand precision off the tee, and the trademark heather, quite short at the end of October, is usually beautiful from a distance, punishing up close, and forces you to think your way around every hole. The fairways roll gently and naturally, and the green complexes are subtle, fast, and always fair, rewarding well-struck approaches while exposing any lapse in distance control.
Signature holes are plentiful, but the par-3s stand out, each framed beautifully and playing differently enough to keep you on your toes. The course conditions are typically excellent, with firm, springy turf and some of the purest putting surfaces in the region.
The clubhouse adds to the experience: traditional without feeling dated, welcoming without being overly formal. The food, which for our package was a full English breakfast before, and a 2 course lunch after was excellent, and served by really friendly staff. The practice facilities are solid, and pace of play is generally very good.
Overall, West Hill is a course that rewards thoughtful golf and an appreciation for classic heathland design. It’s understated, beautifully maintained, and consistently engaging—a must-play for anyone exploring the Surrey sandbelt. I’m already looking forward to returning in 2026, and I'm happy to recommend.

First (and second) time round here as got a day pass as a visitor which provided slightly better value than the normal individual green fee of £170. Course was up to expectations being an interesting place to knock it around, save for their bunkers which were oddly inconsistent with many lacking enough sand to get a decent shot out. Other than that it was very nice indeed and well worth playing. Also more relaxed than I thought it might be. Pro was friendly as were the bar staff and had a nice sandwich from the bar menu at lunch. Well worth a visit if you've got the cash to spare or can tap up a member. Pace of play was also excellent even when 4 balls were playing in the afternoon (I was in a 2).

The condition of the fairways and greens were superb, and the overall course design was great. The winter rate was also very reasonable. The greens were immaculate, visually excellent and very challenging.

Lovely place to play golf. The coarse was beautiful and felt like an honor to play. Greens were sharp and fast and fairways were firm and fair. I will definitely be back.

Jumped straight into the top 10 courses I've played. Not got a negative thing to say about the course. Manicured tee boxes, lush fairways, soft sandy bunkers, beautiful true running greens. Holes perfectly lined with the right amount of heather. A fun, fair test of golf. You can go slightly off line and still make a score. Will definitely return to play again

Pricey, but a class above
A challenging and engaging course in wonderful condition. The heather is tough to play out of so plotting your way round is required. Will play again; it's a great place to spend your day, even if it's more than I usually pay for a round.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic course!
First full 18 round west hill. It’s stunning, remind me a lot of Sunningdale, which is high praise indeed. Lacks a bit of magic but still a pleasure to play.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 87 Handicap: 13.8)

One to remember!!!!!
West Hill is a superb club in Surrey where the heather features heavily on fairways and rough. This course is exceptional in trying conditions but the reception we received from the captain and his committee was second to none. Fantastic classic heathland course
West Hill is one of the fabled "three W's" and is a lovely track. Playing in early April, it was in great condition and the greens were quick for the time of year. It is framed by tall pine trees and lots of heather. Stay out of the heather and you will do well. Subtle elevation changes make judging distance on approach shots tough. Society Day -
Course was in great condition apart from the bunkers as there wasn't enough . sand in them, The greenkeeper had set up pins in quiet difficult spots.We had bacon roll and coffee and lunch included in the society package. The Game pie with chips and veg was excellent.
Can't wait for next years event.

Brilliant course in great setting

Beautiful Track
Plenty of very pleasing features & lots of variation on this layout. Every hole has its own character.Lots of care required to plot your way round this Surrey gem! Strong par fours are a highlight and most demand your full attention in order to score well. Some excellent par three's, as well, to challenge the better player too.
Presented in immaculate condition in April 2018 & the ground staff should feel very proud of this beautiful layout. The best greens I've played on in Surrey to date.
Unstuffy easy-going atmosphere in the bar & dining room. Loved it!
