What the club says: Woking is a heathland course providing the golfer with a test characterised by beautiful but menacing heather carries, fast running fairways and greens full of “subtle” slopes. Complementing this, the player is frequently treated to grand views, as the rise and fall of an interesting topography unfolds, enhancing an architecture which, over the last century, has influenced the thinking of many course designers. As great golf vistas go that from the 11th tee with its commanding view of the 5th and 6th holes offers a glorious reward for the player who is able to pause for a moment before taking the driver from the bag.
Most Helpful Review
Dry fast running fairways, quick undulating greens and devilishy placed pin positions (at least on Saturday) made for a surprisingly challening round. This is a consistently attractive course from hole to hole with very few weak points and well worth its top 40 rating in the Top 100 Golf Course. Stand out holes for me are the Par 4 6th (Si 1) with its raised tea box and hidden from view water hazard, the Par 4 10th with its steeply sloping approach, the Par 5 14th with its approach to within yards of the terrace, the beautifully framed par 3 16th with its lake. I was luckly enough to play in almost perfect weather and with a new member so was great value for money. Lovely old skool feel to the place and probably a great club of which to be a member. Just wish I lived closer. - Apr 20 2015
Golf Course Reviews for Woking Golf Club
greens top notch and greens exciting and all individual. course layout is good, gentle hills and layout interesting and varied without being punishing. Some fairways very wet and some mud but overall well maintained and a fair overall course with gourse under control and not too punitive or dangerous to the wrists
