An excellent course in excellent condition. Went with a society where people have a broad range of handicaps - 14 to 28 - nd there is enough on this course to make it challenging for all in that range.

This is a fairly straightforward course and relatively short with more dog legs than your average course. Conditions were quite wet and half the tees were off the mats but the greens were in great condition. All considered it was an enjoyable round and at an excellent price of under 20 quid.

Course in good condition. Good breakfast. Faster round than normal for Downshire, 4 - ball 4 hours

My local course, but not one that has been looking that great recently. That said, lots of work is being done to the greens and hopefully that will return it to its rightful place, which is in amongst some of the best public courses around.
I also think that given the recent conditions it is a little pricey, but given the number of regular players that keep coming back to play it I guess I am one of the few thinking that.

Played Downshire for the first time in a long while- still playing good with quickish true greens. Fairways were dry and hard, showing signs of use but still better than expected. Some construction work being done on some bunkers (notably 12th) but this does not detract from the overall state of the course. A friendly smile was waiting for us in the clubhouse, serving good beer to reflect on a very pleasant day.

Waterlogged
A fantastic golf course, let down by waterlogged pathways and fairways . Greens are far too soft and insignificant Hole cut outs a lot out of shape,.. And some bunkers with zero sand it’s a shame because it used to be awesome. Hopefully they spend some money on it.Reviewer Rating

Many thanks to the starter
Turned up to play by myself on a weekday about 3 weeks ago, and found I was due to go out behind a society.Starter very kindly suggested I start at the 10th and he'd get me back out onto the front nine.
Very grateful, as turned what I suspect would have been a 5+ hour round into one completed in about 3 hours (and score correspondingly a lot better than it would have been with a lot of waiting). Course very dry as expected, but tees and greens excellent.

Fantastic pay & play long 18 hole challenging golf course Great friendly members and staff - great bar fully stocked Food is average good pro shop driving range is dated but large & cheap - pitch & putt area is ok for 50-60 yard chipping practice located out the back by driving range.

Great value
Great value, particulalry for seniors, athough the rate doesn't start till age 67!Course dry as expected but greens well kept and overall enjoyable experience.

Excellent public course with wide well kept fairways and fabulous greens. excellent driving range too. Only downside is the booking system which has to be done through "Everyone Active" and is a little tricky to negotiate at first.

tough conditions
A bit muddy after the recent rain and so not a lot of carry.Greens quick but a bit bumpy in places.
Great value for Seniors, and not bad for me either.

Save your money
Played Downshire on Sunday 7th April i have never seen this course in such a bad condition fourth is a temporary green parts of 15th and 16th partioned of as GUR the greens are in a bad condition with mud patches all over them so at this moment i would save your money i will not play again for about two months to see if they can improveReviewer Rating

Nice course - if a little short. Good condition. Very nice, fast greens, tricky to get close in dry sunny weather. Recommended to friends and will be back, great value for an afternoon game at the weekend.

The course is in very good condition. There are plenty of dog legs and in my opinion, one must take care not to overuse driver. The green fees are not bad. The management is paying attention on maintaining standards e.g. on dress code etc.
