First time playing at this venue and it was good value for money friendly staff and the course was in good condition despite the hot and dry weather of recent weeks.

Nice established course, good layout , greens cut very short had some bare patches, tee positions need to be moved more often as quite cut up & some of the tee markers are faded which resulted us playing off the whites by mistake on the 11th hole, in fact the yellow is hidden behind a bushy hedge but despite this always enjoy a Downshire round.

The course layout and the condition of the course are excellent. I'd say the fairways reward a good drive, some of the approach shots are tricky and the greens were fast and undulating. I really enjoyable test of your game.

Half course was closed due to poor weather. Poorly maintained, fairways hadn't be cut. Only found out the back 9 was closed after we were on the 12th. Ordered to play the front 9 again by staff. Disappointing that we weren't informed of course closure when we rang and then when we turned up to play.

It had been very dry for a few weeks, but the fairways and greens were in good condition. Some of the rough is still too long in many places and slows play down for the higher handicappers.

Good condition
Playing well after fixing the watering pumps. More work need in the bunkers, to remove the grass growing in them!. Apart from bunkers very good condition.Reviewer Rating

Good gamble!
Decided to play despite earlier heavy rain but weather forecast was inaccurate and stayed dry. Course obviously a bit muddy from earlier rain but greens held up very well and it didn't affect our round.Fantastic value on Play More Golf.

Waterlogged
A fantastic golf course, let down by waterlogged pathways and fairways . Greens are far too soft and insignificant Hole cut outs a lot out of shape,.. And some bunkers with zero sand it’s a shame because it used to be awesome. Hopefully they spend some money on it.Reviewer Rating

Friendly members
New to the area so wanted to take golf up again. I played behind a few very friendly members from Easthampstead Gc who play at the course / complex, they were very friendly and asked if I'd like to join them as the course was playing slow, I expected this as it was a Sunday and I was on my own. The course conditions were good, the greens were in good condition with some tricky pins. The only negative were the bunkers unfortunately with not enough rakes and plenty of footprints in them. After the round I stayed for drinks with the members and we had a good chat. They seem to know the bar staff very well and over all it felt like a very family friendly club. Once I find my game again I'll look to join the club.Reviewer Rating

Many thanks to the starter
Turned up to play by myself on a weekday about 3 weeks ago, and found I was due to go out behind a society.Starter very kindly suggested I start at the 10th and he'd get me back out onto the front nine.
Very grateful, as turned what I suspect would have been a 5+ hour round into one completed in about 3 hours (and score correspondingly a lot better than it would have been with a lot of waiting). Course very dry as expected, but tees and greens excellent.

Fantastic pay & play long 18 hole challenging golf course Great friendly members and staff - great bar fully stocked Food is average good pro shop driving range is dated but large & cheap - pitch & putt area is ok for 50-60 yard chipping practice located out the back by driving range.

Great value
Great value, particulalry for seniors, athough the rate doesn't start till age 67!Course dry as expected but greens well kept and overall enjoyable experience.
