I found this course quite a challenge as it very demanding of your endurance. Exteremly long expecially the walks metioned below. I enjoyed this course as it was long but not too long. Also the course was in good condition and the greens were putting on glass. Would come back here but it is a bit of a hike so a buggy would be very good value for money.

I also just played in the Southern Cup here and the course is in great condition, especially the greens. I agree with Tims point about the "strategically placed bunkers" mainly because I must have found about 6 or 7 off the tee! The front nine is completely different to the back, and in the wind was a real challenge. Its a well thought out course and provides a good challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Golfshake Team ReviewJust played in the Southern Cup here and was impressed with the course. Quite long and undulating but with big greens and some nasty strategically placed bunkers. Interesting the difference between the slightly fluffy Sunday greens to the freshly mown Monday greens, both ran true but the latter were much, much quicker. And many thanks to the greens staff for the different second day pin positions (not). Only gripe on the course side were the stones in the bunkers, but apart from that it was in spectacular condition for early March. Having said that, the treks over the motorway between the 1st & 2nd, the 8th & 9th and the hike from the 9th to the 10th were a bit of a pain. Hotel was small, friendly and charmingly decaying.

A long walk ...

Most courses were closed on the day we played, so it was pretty wet but not too bad overall...
However Its a long slog in heavy conditions, some very testing par 5's and a lot of walking between holes.
would be keen to play it again when dryer and warmer as greens ran pretty well and would be much better once it drys out

Lovely day out ruined by ignorant players

Slow slow slow, would not let a faster group through. Ignorant people. Lovely course spoilt by oafs.

A long course made even longer by the walks between front and back nines.
Gets very busy and also extremely wet under foot during the winter.
A lovely course to playin the summer months though

Shocking fall from grace

Returned to Donnington Grove today for the first time in a number of years. I could have cried. It was apparent before I even parked the car that this place has fallen a long long way. The greens are the worst I have ever seen at DG, possibly even the worst in the area now!! Everything was wrong. The burnt out area by the pro shop is a microcosm of the wider area. Neglected and left to ruin, what a shame. I would love to know how such a beautiful golf course can fall in to such a state.

Great course

Played it in the autumn after it had rained and the course didn't drain well. However today it was in great nick. One of the more difficult courses, as evidenced by its high SR but, if you ignore that and just enjoy the course, it is great fun!

Tough course

Tough long course which will test the mid/high handicapper. Greens in great shape but some of the holes beginning to suffer from mud although hadn't been too wet. Probably better played in the Spring/Summer.

Course plays pretty long so obviously much favours those who can get good distance with their drives.
