Newbury & Crookham Golf Club has to be one of Berkshire's hidden gems. I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable golfing experience which would suit players of all abilities. At over 150 years old (established in 1873); the course combines mature woodland and heathland terrain to create an attractive and varied layout where no two holes feel the same.

The 18-hole, par-69 course is not long by modern standards, but it demands accuracy, course management, and thoughtful shot-making throughout, and suited our ageing society of golfers.
The standout feature of the course is the quality of its greens, which are consistently praised for their condition and pace. The fairways are well maintained, and the layout provides a good balance of risk-and-reward opportunities alongside challenging par threes and undulating holes that keep golfers engaged from start to finish. Our group commented on the excellent presentation of the course and the variety of holes on offer.

Off the course, the club offers welcoming facilities, including a modern pro shop, comfortable clubhouse, bar, and restaurant. The food for our golf day was excellent, and the overall price for our ?package? was good value. The atmosphere is friendly and inclusive, with staff and members showing their hospitality and giving us a warm welcome.

Overall, Newbury & Crookham Golf Club delivers an outstanding blend of history, character, course quality, and hospitality. Our group, to a man thoroughly enjoyed playing here and are looking forward to the club hosting our annual trophy each year from now on.

Course played well despite heavy rain in previous days and all bunkers were free of water.

Lovely course with some interesting holes and challenging par 3's. Pity I always seem to play it when it's been wet and playing a little longer than the 5710.

Beautiful afternoon / evening

Only played the front 9 in the evening...teed off at about 4pm. The light as the sun was setting made it difficult to see the ball, but it really made the place look beautiful. Loved it.
The greens and fairways were in very good condition, but it still had draining issues in a few places.

It was suffering from all the recent rain with drainage an issue in several places at the lower end of the course. That said; the greens were in good nick. The layout is a bit odd at a couple of points with tees close together and players driving across each other in what becomes a busy area.

Not a long course but challenging

Society day and despite the heavy rain the night before the course played very well with unexpectedly fast greens as they had been ironed two days before. Lovely setting and some good risk reward and challenging holes No 17 is a great par 3 but so are the others on this course.
