We won a qualifying event to play at Close House and so I can't comment on the fees normally charged but I thought this was a wonderful test of golf. You have to think about what club to pull out if the bag on most tee shots, the changes in elevation were a joy and thè greens ran true and fast despite the wet conditions. Add that to some glorious countryside and great facilities, staff and food it was a wonderful experience. I recently played the Brabazon and PGA at the Belfry and felt this just pipped it for me, my sort of course!!

I played the revamped Lee Westwood Filly Course last week and must say what a real pleasure it was. The course is perhaps in the shadow of the mighty \"Colt\" up the hill but it would be a mistake to think that the Filly is anything less than excellent golf course in its own right. It\'s got 30 or classic looking new bunkers and then 30 or so originals have been renovated completely as well. All are immaculate with new white sand and all are expertly placed. The course it’s self has been re-routed which has much improved the flow with both 9’s heading back to the clubhouse. The fairways are both well-defined and rewarding, however unlike on the Colt course, it’s pretty forgiving to wayward tee shots as well. The greens we’re nothing short of excellent, playing fast and true but with some very tricky breaks to read. The pin placements on the course are key to how hard the Filly plays so there is a real challenge for both the low handicapper and the average golfer on the course.

Played this course in the last week of August on a special offer. The club house is very modern and very posh and well stocked with very expensive golf equipment and clothing. Staff unbelievable friendly and polite and couldn't do enough to help you.
The course was in excellent condition however the greens had just started to have the summer aeration started on them however this didn't effect what was a wonderful day

Great venue, all about golf, love it!
This is a proper golf venue with a relaxed attitude. Colt Course is immaculate even in these wet times. The best greens I have played on in 2024 by far. Great layout, good bunkering and challenging greens. Would return in a heart beat. The clubhouse and accommodation amongst the best we stay in anywhere.Reviewer Rating

Father and son day out.
My grandson won us a free round for 2 at the filly course when we attended the liv tournament ( and a round for 1 at the colt) we attended today, 21 Feb, weather has been dreadful so we expected the course to be closed, but no, the course was open, playable, without mats, all greens open, most tees were temporary. As we arrived the rain stopped, and we virtually had it to ourselves ????Everything we saw was classy, from the clubhouse, staff, 19th hole, food and obviously the golf. It would be nice to play again in warmer weather, and also try out the colt course. A great day out, well worth the travelling up. Many thanks.Reviewer Rating

We have not been to CH for 4 years and we were glad to return and experience what we regard as the best accommodation we stay in anywhere, the nicest ambience, immaculate greens, well maintained Colt Course, the little touches everywhere which ooze class and the fact you usually see someone famous and realise how down to earth they are. The food is lovely and the staff are so helpful that you do feel special when you play here. The Filly Course was a bit fluffy on fairways and some very boggy holes which stopped me giving it a full 10 score.Reviewer Rating

Obahugs society weekend

Not a Winter Course
Played this as Day 2 of an overnight break. March was the wettest March for 40 years and the course had not held up particularly well. It was very soft in places, although playable. Greens really needed a cut as they were very inconsistent. 2 temporary tees in play which were not fit for purpose. They made two decent par 4s into pitch and putt holes and the matts had just been borrowed from the range and still had the rubber driving tee in!!!Accommodation was fabulous and very, very spacious even if they do push the two single beds right next to each to fit into the wall mounted headboard??? Food was decent but nowhere near as good as Sandburn Hall the previous day.

I had a great time on my golfing trip playing both the Colt and Filly courses. Both courses provided a great challenge and were perfectly manicured. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this golfing trip to anyone looking for a fun and challenging experience.
