My wife paid for my round as my birthday present, and i can honestly say it was money well spent. On arrival the staff were friendly and vey helpfull, staff in clubhouse keen to pass on advice on what to be aware of on certain holes. The course was immaculate, greens run very true and well paced, for what are relative new greens. the rough is indeed 'rough' and you will quickly learn to 'take your medicine' if you stray. Each hole is a different challange, and you really need to give consideration to where you lay up , drive to, or chip from, it is not always wise to reach for the big stick on the big holes, be warned. this is a real gofers track, and will give you a sharp reminder how tricky golf is, if you dont get it right. i play off 4, and carded a plus 8, having played really well, simply reflects that i am maybe not a good as i thought. i have played royal county down, royal portrush, st andrews, troon, etc etc, and this is right up there. ps; i have to mention the green staff, i observed them on several holes and the attention to detail they put in was admirable, and again, they are very friendly and more than happy to tell you where you needed to be landing the ball, it was a pleasure to see young lads taking such obvious pride in there work, and the course. i would most definately return, and hope the wife has got the hint, that with christmas aproaching, there would be no better a gift.

Just played close house on a Sunday driver. Filly course disappointing, very short and open, didnt use more than a nine iron for any approach shot. Fairways and greens good, a few good holes round the turn but pretty nondescript other than that. The colt course however is amazing, stunning holes and stunning views, be aware though that it is built on a hillside and is very hard going in places. Not long from the yellow tees and quite forgiving for the wayward drives so there\'s no hunting for balls if you miss the fairways. Greens and firways fantastic and lovely fine sand in the bunkers. I play off five and shot 73, plenty of birdie opportunities are available so the opportunity is there for a good score. Rooms great, food good and £4 a pint so good value for money considering the location. Staff very friendly and accommodating nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended well worth £125.

Standard course fees are £100, which i'd never pay to play anwhere other than a top top course. My round here was a gift. If i were to put a fair green fee price on it i'd say £65-£70 would be much nearer the mark. We'll see how the course fares over the next couple of years and if they stick to the £100 mark or start giving some offers out. It is a lovely course, no question. We played after all the rain May '12, and before the sunshine, so some areas atleast between tee and fairway were suffering a bit. Rough is very unforgiving... think broken wrists if you overdo your escape. Greens very good but not exceptional at all which is surprising given how new this course is... i would have thought they'd go all out for top greens. Plenty of hills and therefore some blind holes but because you get course maps it's not really a problem. You do have to plot your way around some of the holes and chose your club carefully as the course is well laid out. We creamed a couple of drives on one of the holes (8 i think) which unusually has a split fairway. Fully expected to be sitting pretty but found ourselves to have been "too straight" and overran into rough! So on occasion, what you think is a great shot can leave you with a bad stance or even lie. First timers will definitely get a few surprises at some stage in their round.
All in all a really good course, lovely clubhouse, glad i played it, but overpriced for sure and until some deals get reeled out i won't be back. They seem to want to keep it exclusive in a time when golf is all about being inclusive... It's just not a good enough course, but we'll see where it goes.

Considering that half the Fillies course was shortened and as we only played 16 holes on the Colt to say this was a disappointment is an understatement.. no compensation was offered and we also had to pay the full price for buggies.. And drinks in the 19 hole are an extortionate price.

Played the Filly Course, a good golf course, but I expected a bit more from Close House.
It's in good condition, except for the greens which are heavily sanded & therefore slow.
It's a nice lay out, with some good strategic bunkering & a few trees.
I particularly enjoyed holes 5 to 8 where there was a bit of water & you go up & down hill, but other than that the course was fairly flat.
A nice golf course, but I expected more

Get a course planner and a buggy

Roller coaster of a course. There are some holes (e.g. 14th) where you just don't know what you are facing unless you have a course planner (there are no pictures on the tees - unlike the filly).
Its a course you come off thinking i'd love to play that again now I know what's going on.

Stunning setup. Played Colt course in pristine condition. Short and tight, rough is unforgiving. Greens hard and fast. Some fantastic tee shots. Get a buggy as some steep hills.

A well presented course with undulating fairways and greens to really test all levels. The fairways are beautifully kept with up to 3 cuts of rough surrounding them
meaning you're not unduly punished if you're only slightly off course. The greens were fast and true and with some sneaky pin positions it's easy to turn a simple short put into a bit of an ordeal. Great course and facilities but it's pretty pricey so it's not to suit all peoples pockets.

Played the Colt course , superb condition throughout , a real challenge , but that's what you expect
from a course of this calibre . The fairways played all of the 6308 yds. Club choice is always important , even more on this track as was choice of shot . Greens were true even and quite quick ,
The ball released smoothly on pitches and approach shots and ran cleanly on long lag puts .
An impressive course overall and I will return .
