Good course worth visiting

Fairly open course, so forgiving. In very good condition and most enjoyable. It was quite a slow round with 4-ball games ahead, and I have had this before on a number of occasions here. Greens good but disappointed that golfers ahead hadn't been repairing pitch marks. Bunkers are many! And bunger sand fairly poor and having to play off very compacted surface. There's a fair amount of walking between holes, but 3 separate 9-holes to play.

Stayed here for a three day golf break and played all three courses. I found all of them very challenging, particularly the Lakeland course. Miss the fairways and you will be lucky to find your ball as the rough is exceedingly long in places. High and medium handicappers should note that there are a few holes where you need to carry at least 130 yards off the tee to stay in play.

Great venue

Had a 2 night 3 round stay in a lodge. The facilities are superb and the courses interesting. The greens were huge and very tricky with so many slopes but all were in great condition. The courses were challenging with various obstacles and many bunkers. The rough was a challenge and ditches in awkward spots as well as trees. Most greens were heavily protected by bunkers but these were the only let down and need more work plus sand in them as very compacted. Food and service were great with friendly staff. Would highly recommend going there. 3 different 9?s so played all twice. The lodge we stayed in was huge and well equipped including a sauna

Nice course

The woodland course, although shorter, is more challenging because of the trees. There is always trouble lurking there.

Great layout. Course is let down by the poor state of the bunkers
Could do with some more steps on some of the tees for us older golfers

Slightly disappointed

Course was not in best of conditions, greens were fair but very fast, plenty of bare patches, areas around greens were kept to decent standard, bunkers, some were fine, others hard as rock, fairways pick and place which was good as they looked like a Sunday League football pitch, trees unforgiving (which I sort of expect) but needed cutting so as at least you could get a stance, all in all I was a bit disappointed, fortunately I hadn't paid as it was a freebie but if I had I would have come away feeling hard done by.
