The Best Golf Competitions For Amateurs to Enter in 2023

By: | Thu 23 Mar 2023

Do you believe that your golf game has drastically improved over the years and the standard Saturday four-ball just isn’t enough?

The alluring Club Championship offers a new lease of competitive life, but the annual competition rapidly goes by.

Luckily for thrill-seeking golfers, there are plenty of amateur tours that are running throughout 2023, which will take you to some of the finest locations.

Clutch Amateur Tour

Harleyford Golf Club

(Harleyford Golf Club)

Considering the PGA EuroPro Tour no longer exists, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the Clutch Pro Tour will be the favoured UK-based tour for the 2023 season.

For the professionals, there will be two tiers to compete on, with tier two gaining access to tier one, and the premium league vying for promotion to the Challenge Tour.

The impressive tour doesn’t stop there however, as they have also released a full amateur schedule that includes some fantastic venues.

The 17-event season will visit facilities such as Harleyford (home of PGA Tour star Tyrrell Hatton), Bowood, and Studley Wood will be hosting the Tour Championship.

There is a £160 entry fee for all events but leading amateurs across the year will be awarded money and equipment prizes and free entry for Clutch Membership in 2024.

Head to Clutch Pro Tour to check out all their amateur listings.

Its Tour Powered by 2020protour

Whilst the Its Tour won’t offer the same level of events that Clutch Pro Tour can, it’s still a fantastic platform to develop your game and compete against other skilled golfers.

Amateurs may enter all professional events if they hold a handicap of 5 or better. You will be competing against and drawn to play with touring professionals, which should be a fantastic experience.

Its Tour also offers the #TourExperience events, which is open to amateurs who hold a handicap of 28 or better.

Whilst you will be playing the same courses as the professionals, there will be two separate competitions to reflect the level of ability.

Stableford prizes will be presented to the amateurs with higher handicaps and each category has its separate Order of Merit (OoM) - which emulates the tour experience perfectly!

The amateur under five handicap OoM will be decided via a point system and so will the amateur Tour Experience class.

Head to the 2020protour website to find out all the information for the impending 2023 season.

Golfbreaks’ Pairs Events

Woodhall Spa

(Woodhall Spa)

The successful Pairs Events from Golfbreaks will be making a return for the 2023 season, and there are some unbelievable venues featuring across the year.

Golfers will be asked to team up with a friend and compete as a duo in a Betterball Stableford format.

Live scoring will be present at each event, which will amplify the touring experience.

There are plenty of prizes up for grabs, including a four-night golfing trip to Monte Rei Resort in Portugal!

With seven UK-based events, golfers will be able to experience glamourous venues such as Walton Heath, Slaley Hall and Woodhall Spa.

The sole European competition will take place in Spain; it will be contended during the first month of November.

Head to Golfbreaks for more information about the highly successful Pairs Events.

National Club Golfer: Top 100s Tour

Royal Ashdown Forest

(Royal Ashdown Forest)

National Club Golfer will be offering golfers a marvellous opportunity of experiencing competition golf at a plethora of world-class venues.

The idea behind the introduction is for golfers to be able to play on some of the finest courses available, whilst also experiencing the thrill of competition.

Whilst some of the events are already sold out, there are still places for Woodbridge, Leven Links, Auchterarder, Royal Lytham & St Annes, Royal Ashdown Forest (Old) and many, many more.

TaylorMade have recently been announced as the tour’s partner, with the top three winning players gaining a voucher to use at TaylorMade’s new online UK shop.

The lucky winner of the season-long tour will be awarded with a seven-night break for two people to the Carolinas, which also includes four rounds of golf at Carolina courses, flights, accommodation and car rental.

Venues such as Pinehurst Resort, Kiawah Island Resort and Harbour Town Links are all situated within North and South Carolina…

If you would like more information or to peruse available competitions, you should head to their website.

Golfpairs.com

Golfpairs have been around for an extended period, which has enabled them to build the service that they offer today.

There will be over 100 Pairs Stableford events across the 2023 season, with plenty of fantastic prizes on offer at each one.

An Order of Merit will also be updated after each event and golfers will have the chance to qualify for one of four Regional Finals Days.

The premium days will allow golfers to visit locations such as Royal St George’s, Royal Porthcawl, Celtic Manor, The Belfry, and many more.

These competitions will award the finest prizes and any golfer who cards an ace at one of these tournaments will win £10,000!

If you’d like more information about Golfpairs, you can access their entire schedule through their website.

Closing

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of businesses like the above, the touring experience is no longer exclusive to professional golfers.

Clutch Pro Tour are offering a full season for amateurs, which is something that has rarely been done before.

If you’re looking for something more relaxed, then the Golfbreaks and Golfpairs listings should offer a steadier experience.

Good luck to anyone competing throughout the 2023 season!
