What the club says: Hunting
The Hunting is a truly great course and it's no surprise that it holds European Tour events on an annual basis - it was also England's entry to stage the 2010 Ryder Cup. The challenging par 4, 9th is an awesome hole, with a carry over water through a narrow avenue of towering trees and dense rhododendrons. With the abundant foliage along the fairways, you'll see why this course is one of the most colourful in the British Isles.
Priestman
The Priestman is a slightly newer course and is generally thought to be of equal standard. It was superbly designed by PGA Chairman Neil Coles and weaves its way across 280 acres of the Western side of this

Superb Golf Course
Played both courses and whilst Priestman was perfectly ok, but slightly tired from overplay, the Hunting Course was a huge step up in quality and layout. Beautiful setting. Very testing but quite wide fairways on most holes, so most enjoyable.

Punishing Rough.
Played Both Courses at Slaley Hall. I have to say the Hunting course is stunning and a good challenge. The other course. Priestman I think it is called, whilst a good layout , the rough on that course is in my opinion far too brutal for a resort type golf destination. Almost always led to a lost ball or almost impossible shot out. That spoils a round of golf and as I say, in my opinion unnecessary.

It?s a must visit
It starts with a warm welcome in the pro shop. Courses wonderfully set up. Priestman is a challenge for all ranges of golfer. Green excellent , fairways friendly, stay out of the rough. Just when you think you got it cracked, they throw the 16th at you. Par 5 up hill, when i say hill i mean hill.Unfortunately due to current regulations did try the 19, but rumour has it its very good.
If you are a serious golfer you have to give Slaley?s two courses a go.

Slaley hall

Could be so good
Played Slaley over the past 20 years and in my opinion it has gone down hill, hotel is still great but the courses haven't really matured in the way they should have greens and fairways have got wetter and on my last visit the fairways were almost unplayable.

Great break
2 rounds, bed breakfast & evening meal for ?129 was an absolute bargain. Both courses were very good and the food/hospitality was excellent.

We both liked the challenge and will be back again soon.
Watch out for the drink prices in the bar. Over £5 for a pint!!

Golf Weekender
Done a weekender here, 19th, 20th October, 2 courses in a 4 ball. Had a great time, Hunting course is very tough, priestman is a lot easier. Greens were in great condition for October. Rooms were really good as well. Food was tasty. Only downside to it all was price of drinks. But overall give this place a go.

Lovely Course
Brilliant course, a very enjoyable round. Greens in excellent condition but stay on the fairway - the rough swallows balls without a trace!(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 101 Handicap: )

Amazing courses, lovely food, decent rooms
We played both courses as a Society of 10 players, loved them both but the Hunting is the one to play if given the choice, the 18th is beautiful ! Golf services were all great, hotel services need some work sorting out problems we had. Food was great and we will return.

Great course
A good test and a typical good quality resort course. Tricky in high winds!!...........................(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 87 Handicap: 11.5)

Top Quality Course & Staff
Nothing seemed too much trouble on this golf day. The staff were very attentive and could not have been more helpful. Course had recovered very quickly from all the bad weather. Great facilities and a wonderful course.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 93 Handicap: 22.3)

Present of wife
The course is a great lay out good tea boxes fairways in very good condition the bunkers where not very good not much sand in them the greens look good and fast but they were slow the staff where very polite the food was good it’s worth going for a stay n and it’s worth going for the golf(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 84 Handicap: 8.6)

(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 96 Handicap: 21.5)

Tough
Planned to play in May as the weather would be fine, in reality it was pouring down and only 7 degrees. Played alright on the front nine then fell apart in the wet.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 118 Handicap: 29.5)

Lovely
This is apparently the second course at Slaley Hall but it is a great course and and a tough challenge in great condition. Would like to play it again now I know what's going on.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 101 Handicap: 21.2)
