Extremely slow play

Both courses are beautiful but the average round takes about 6 hours on a weekend and it isn't a long course. The marshall is completely redundant.

Course conditions have deteriorated significantly in recent years.

Poor Attitude and course condition

Initial confusion about whether a cart had been booked or not was embarrassing with unfriendly staff unwilling to accept their mistake. I was made to feel like a liar which is disgusting and shows their total lack of customer service. On to both the courses, the Hunting and Priestman, both are clearly over played with extremely slow play and the bunkers are awful with little no sand in them. We won’t be back.\

Slowest courses I’ve played

With both courses being fully booked and the number of societies/stag do’s and large groups… expect to wait on every hole. With no sign of a Marshall… slow play could have been avoided!

26/27 oct played the priestman then the hunting on consecutive days what a disgrace, the greens were impossible to putt on, The worst greens I've ever tried to putt on,they've been recently hollowtined but not only huge holes in them but also massive tramlines in them,I think all should have a refund,

What has happened!!!!!

I played both courses a few of years ago through the summer and it was perfect, well kept fairways, greens that looked and played amazing and Superb bunkers with soft fluffy sand. You could tell you were playing in a championship course.
Wow what happened in the last few years? the fairways were OK at best the greens on both course have moss and bobble about and as the bunkers, hey have about 10mm of sand mixed with gravel on top of what appears to be clay.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement I really hope they can turn this around it used to be such a great course.

Punishing Rough.

Played Both Courses at Slaley Hall. I have to say the Hunting course is stunning and a good challenge. The other course. Priestman I think it is called, whilst a good layout , the rough on that course is in my opinion far too brutal for a resort type golf destination. Almost always led to a lost ball or almost impossible shot out. That spoils a round of golf and as I say, in my opinion unnecessary.

Lovely course. Greens poor

Greens had been spiked and were woolly and awful, compared to the hunting which is brilliant

Arrived at Slaley early so decided to have a coffee and bacon roll very expensive, got coffee once I managed to find someone to serve me however drank my coffee and still no bacon roll when I asked about this I was given a sausage sandwich. Course has a nice layout however The greens had been top dressed with sand and were very slow would have been nice to have been told this before booking. Maybe play again when greens are better.

Played in late March. Course quite wet. Would have enjoyed a lot more if course was dry. Fairways were ok, but look to have seen quite a bit of play recently. Greens were very good. As someone else said, a lack of service at the bar. Also, the bacon roll and coffee for £8 was overpriced. In fact I've not had much worse bacon rolls.

An excellent course let down by boggy ground and lack of staff in the bar, along with over priced bacon sandwich and coffee, which were poor quality. Didn't even bother staying for a drink after as we thought it would be at least £5 a pint. Would recommend playing in summer months when hopefully the ground would be drier.

The Hunting Course was a little disappointing as the fairways had been slit and filled with sand and stones. The Priestman was in better condition.

Could be so good

Played Slaley over the past 20 years and in my opinion it has gone down hill, hotel is still great but the courses haven't really matured in the way they should have greens and fairways have got wetter and on my last visit the fairways were almost unplayable.
