The leading manufacturers invest extraordinary sums of money each year to push the limits of innovation to craft new drivers that will deliver even greater levels of performance to a vast spectrum of golfers.

Given just how competitive this place in the market is - and the number of incredible options available - it can be a challenge to separate the most impressive models, but that's where Golfshake's Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall can offer his invaluable expertise to point you in the right direction.

Having earlier chosen his favourite drivers that most suit his own game, Ryan now returns with a more definitive overview, showcasing the clubs that he believes will favour many different golfers this season and beyond.

During a recent visit to Penina Golf Resort in Portugal, Ryan shared his picks for driver of the year, which you can see in this newly released video.

Are These The Best Golf Drivers of 2026?

Having seen what Ryan has selected as the finest drivers of 2026, if you would like to know more, we have provided further detail on each of them below.

If you are embarking on a search to purchase a new driver, this should be a helpful place to start!

Mizuno JPX ONE & JPX ONE Select

Mizuno JPX ONE

The JPX ONE from Mizuno uniquely deploys NANOALLOY face technology, which was developed in collaboration with materials specialists Toray. It consists of microscopic polymer dispersion that has produced a face that dynamically alters its elasticity under impact. This means that the material stores and releases more energy at impact than traditional titanium or composite constructions, meaning that golfers can benefit from incredible ball speeds across a wider area of the face.

Additionally, a newly engineered CORTECH Face, up to 0.35mm thinner than previous generations, expands the CORAREA (high-speed rebound zone) by over 15% versus earlier releases.

There are two models in this range, JPX ONE and JPX ONE SELECT, which are distinct from each other. JPX ONE features a slightly larger footprint for higher stability and straighter ball flight, while JPX ONE SELECT delivers a more compact, tour-preferred shape with a neutral-to-fade bias. Both include adjustable weighting and Quick Switch hosel systems to fine-tune launch and spin.

What Ryan Says: "What I thought at the time is that it looks like a Titleist but the face is a bit like a TaylorMade. Feels very good off the face. This ticks boxes for a lot of golfers. We loved it."

Callaway Quantum

Callaway Quantum

Callaway's new Quantum drivers feature the innovative Tri-Force Face that has been designed to provide you with exceptional speed and distance. This has been made possible by the successful layering of three materials - Titanium, Poly Mesh, and Carbon Fiber - into a fully integrated speed system.

What this means is that you benefit from the ultra-thin, high-strength Titanium that is designed for pure speed, while the Poly Mesh is a military-grade polymer that binds the layers together, and Carbon Fiber reinforces the face structure, which allows for greater flex.

Ai modelling has precisely tuned the face, meaning that you will enjoy remarkable performance, whether you elect for Max-D, Max, Triple Diamond, Triple Diamond Max, or any of the other available models.

What Ryan Says: "Every single one of these models was great, really low spin when I tested them, and for those of you who need to control that spin, knock it down a little bit more, there will be a Quantum driver in this range for you."

COBRA OPTM

COBRA OPTM LS

During testing, Ryan analysed all four of the new Cobra drivers, OPTM LS, OPTM X, OPTM MAX-K and OPTM MAX-D.

Featuring POI (Product of Inertia) Shaping, Adaptive POI Weighting, H.O.T. Face and FUTUREFIT33, these drivers boast an exciting package of innovations and proven technologies that have created something truly formidable.

There was a significant focus on enhanced forgiveness during the construction of this range, with the MAX-D being engineered for maximum draw bias, the MAX-K crafted for stability, while the LS (Ryan's clear favourite) was engineered for those who appreciate a lower spinning driver.

What Ryan Says: "The entire range is really, really good, but the LS was the most fun by far to hit of any driver released this season. It's just bloody good fun. It's quick, the ball comes off fast, it goes miles, the ball speeds are amazing, and I just love hitting them."

Wilson DYNAPWR Max+

Wilson DYNAPWR

The new DYNAPWR Max+ driver was carefully designed to provide the straightest and most forgiving performance in Wilson's long history.

This was made possible by the fact that the driver delivers a higher moment of inertia (MOI) than previously seen, surpassing the 10K MOI mark. This means that the clubhead has greater stability at impact, ensuring that golfers will consistently hit straighter tee shots and have a reliable ball flight.

The DYNAPWR Max+ is also fully adjustable, incorporating a six-way adjustable hosel and an adjustable rear weight, which means that individual golfers can fine-tune spin and launch conditions to suit themselves.

What Ryan Says: "This thing is amazing. It's unbelievably forgiving. It's quick, the spin is relatively low as well, and it's just right up there alongside some of the best drivers in the business at the moment. Wilson are stepping up their game, year on year."

This is the club that currently takes pride of place in Ryan's bag, but it's not his absolute standout choice for best driver of 2026, which is...

TaylorMade Qi4D

TaylorMade Qi4D

Consisting of the new Qi4D, Qi4D LS, Qi4D Max and Qi4D Max Lite, TaylorMade's latest driver family is both comprehensive and highly impressive.

The carbon face is where everything starts with these new clubs. Simply put, carbon is lighter than titanium. Through extensive research and testing, TaylorMade engineers were able to prove that the carbon faces featured in Qi4D drivers more efficiently produce speed than titanium faces. They’re also more durable than the faces in the previous generation.

Reengineered roll radius within the face delivers more consistent spin across different impact locations, meaning that there’s less discrepancy in spin rates between shots struck low and high on the face with those that come out of the centre. Golfers who put one of these drivers in their bag will enjoy more consistent spin that allows for more consistent flight and distance.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) led to the design of a new and improved cut-through Speed Pocket, while the proven 60x Carbon Twist Face employs corrective face curvature with less loft in the heel and more loft in the toe.

Each head in this range was developed through hundreds of advanced simulations to provide the perfect balance of inertia and speed to help golfers swing the club faster and hit the ball farther than they have before.

What Ryan Says: "My favourite driver that I've tried in 2026 is the Qi4D from TaylorMade. There is a model there for everyone, the core model has been really good, but the LS is great for those players who want that slightly lower spin, the Max is amazing, you can literally hit it all over the face, chop across it, try and hook it, and it just goes straight all the time. Amazing driver and an amazing driver series from TaylorMade."

TaylorMade Qi4D New Driver

Now that you've seen Ryan's picks for the best drivers of this year, which of them are you most likely to consider buying, and have you tested any of these models yet?

Whichever of these you were to choose, it's clear that you are going to benefit massively on the golf course in 2026.
