This club has a basic initial layout to the car park and club house. On entering the club itself we were greeted by very friendly staff, all full of knowledge on the brief history of the course / owners. The starter took us to the 1st tee and we were offered the choice of tee to use for the day. The fairways are well manicured with perfectly sighted bunkers to pick off anything off centre. they were also extremely difficult to get out of. The starters two tips to us.....chip out sideways when in the bunkers and beware of the greens. Greens were immaculate, very true and designed to a very high standard. I can possibly see slight drainage problems in the next few years as some of the fairways held water in medium sized puddles. The rough is damaging to your game on this course but easy enough to spot your wayward balls. There are some good dog leg holes with excellent placed burns to catch you out. Beware the 1st green, awesome slopes. The 3rd is a tough par 5 where you will have to maximise your lay up skills. The signiture 11th hole is a real treat at just 120 yards but miss the green and your looking at a bogey at best. 12/13/14 are fairly straight forward then another par 3 gem at 15. Playing anything from the 165 yards mark, this hole has an awesome bunker structure at the front. Hit them at your peril. If you do manage a par on 15, run to the next as fast as your legs will carry you then face the toughst hole on the course, running alongside the train track and measuring some 430 plus. A perfect bunker layout again hinders your drive. Dundonald Is a course that needs skill and some intelligent plotting around. Overall, a very enjoyable round for the £40 we paid. Handicap 18 Score on the day in wind and rain 93.

The course was in great condition the greens were immaculate. They wind proved to be the toughest part of the round as you would expect from a great links course. If you have not played I would suggest that you do you will not be disappointed.

Excellent and challenging course. Untraditional club house but it delivers well. Played on Easter Sunday when weather was quite superb. Probably more of a challenge on a windier day!

Dundonald is a stunning links course in the heart of Ayrshire golf country. There is not a poor hole on this course which is in superb condition. The only problem was water in the bunkers although that wasn't surprising considering the deluge experienced through October. Great views across the Firth of Clyde towards Arran and Ailsa Craig make this an unforgettable golfing experience

Good layout but….

Had heard some good reviews from friends. Layout is really good, but have to say, some areas not as good as would have hoped for the price. Greens were in good shape, but tee boxes ‘well used’. We had carts but no signage out there for directions in roped areas (plenty) meant reversing as cart auto cut off kicks in. Real shame and based on this, would look at other courses first in the area, depending on our price point

Excellent

Played with friends 19.10.23.
From walking into reception to leaving the clubhouse after a great round and excellent meal , the guys at Dundonald Links didn’t put a foot wrong .
Very friendly welcome in the pro shop and starter.
The course was in excellent condition the layout is great and was a good test - playable but testing - a really enjoyable day and top quality at a fair price.
Will be visiting again.

Society visit

Played this beautiful course on 2/9/23. Couldn't fault a thing. Warm welcome upon arrival from the young ladies in the bar area, they even passed nice comments on the colour of our society tops. The starter was very pleasant taking time to explain to all snippets of info. The course itself lives up to its reputation, excellent condition from tee to green. Even if your round not the best just admire the views.

Exceptional course

well worth its ranking as a championship course. Typical links course management is key to doing well bunkers catch you and they are deep and very well placed. Let down by starters as another game got pushed in front. Didn't impact much ran 20 mins late.

This was an amazing experience! The course was in excellent condition, with great fairways and greens that were well kept. The practice area was also great, and the clubhouse facilities were first-class. The layout and stadium feel of the course was great. All in all, it was an excellent day with friends and an exceptional course. Highly recommended!
