True Scottish Golf

The course has all the features you would expect on a true Scottish links course (gorse, pot bunkers, hidden ditches and stunning views). We had true Scottish weather thrown in (45 mph winds, hail and sunshine) yet the course was so good this just added to the experience. ?55 for a visitor on a Sunday was good value & the hospitality & food were very good.

Great links course

The course is varied and challenging. It has views over the Firth of Clyde; follows the Ayr-Glasgow railway at some points, and has small ditches, large bunkers and steep mounding to keep life interesting. The fairways are firm and the greens are fast. You have to hit approaches to the right parts of the greens as there are many elevation changes. There are white, blue and black tees offering different distance challenges for every level of player. The staff are friendly and helpful, and a half-way service is available.

Stunning championship links course with some great views.
Irons from tees can be the best option as to score round here you need to avoid the bunkers from tee to green.

Fabulous Course

When you arrive the clubhouse is less than inspiring from the outside as it resembles a very large mobile home. Inside the facilities are very good. Food was excellent. Pro and reception staff super friendly and helpful. Moving to the practice ground you see the benefits of being chosen to host The Scottish Open as the practice range, short game practice area and putting practice area were added then and are superb. Then you play the course and the treat that you have ahead will truly make your day. Superbly maintained every hole is a joy to play. A note of caution from the starter was "Avoid the bunkers at all costs and if you do happen in one chose your route out carefully as forward is not always the best way." I concur! Possibly my favourite course of those that I have played, certainly up there. Highly recommended.

This club has a basic initial layout to the car park and club house. On entering the club itself we were greeted by very friendly staff, all full of knowledge on the brief history of the course / owners. The starter took us to the 1st tee and we were offered the choice of tee to use for the day. The fairways are well manicured with perfectly sighted bunkers to pick off anything off centre. they were also extremely difficult to get out of. The starters two tips to us.....chip out sideways when in the bunkers and beware of the greens. Greens were immaculate, very true and designed to a very high standard. I can possibly see slight drainage problems in the next few years as some of the fairways held water in medium sized puddles. The rough is damaging to your game on this course but easy enough to spot your wayward balls. There are some good dog leg holes with excellent placed burns to catch you out. Beware the 1st green, awesome slopes. The 3rd is a tough par 5 where you will have to maximise your lay up skills. The signiture 11th hole is a real treat at just 120 yards but miss the green and your looking at a bogey at best. 12/13/14 are fairly straight forward then another par 3 gem at 15. Playing anything from the 165 yards mark, this hole has an awesome bunker structure at the front. Hit them at your peril. If you do manage a par on 15, run to the next as fast as your legs will carry you then face the toughst hole on the course, running alongside the train track and measuring some 430 plus. A perfect bunker layout again hinders your drive. Dundonald Is a course that needs skill and some intelligent plotting around. Overall, a very enjoyable round for the £40 we paid. Handicap 18 Score on the day in wind and rain 93.

Dundonald is a stunning links course in the heart of Ayrshire golf country. There is not a poor hole on this course which is in superb condition. The only problem was water in the bunkers although that wasn't surprising considering the deluge experienced through October. Great views across the Firth of Clyde towards Arran and Ailsa Craig make this an unforgettable golfing experience
