Has the potential to be a very interesting course. However, the greens are in very poor condition - buckets of water had just been dumped on them in an attempt to make them less parched and they were too long. You don't expect to be thumping a 10 foot putt in June. It's clear drainage is a problem - so would avoid outside the summer months. £38 for a weekend round is steep. On a positive, the course isn't busy.

A shadow of its former self

It's such a pity to see this course getting worse every time I play it - almost all of the course is in poor condition, I can't think of something that stands out as being normal for what you pay.

Course is extremely wet and cannot drain - it hasn't rained for a few days but today we were playing into puddles on almost every fairway, not to mention mud. Fairways like rough, greens haven't been worth speaking of for the last two years. Granted we received a small discount due to the condition but it wasn't sufficient really.

Facilities are also being let go, a real shame and I wonder what the future holds. It's lovely to have this kind of pay and play course in the area but they really need to spend some money to survive.

I’ve played in better farmyards

24 of us played on 10 Feb and almost universally we agreed this was a terrible course.
Even allowing for the recent snow it is obvious that little money has been spend. The course requires extensive drainage, tee boxes need to be clearly delineated and smartened up. Approaches to the greens needs weeds hacked back and paths require wood savings, gravel or tarmac.
The greens were atrocious with putts bumping around so that nothing was true

I remember playing this course some tears ago and it was much better than present.
Staff were friendly and the pro very knowledgable as was the starter.
In summary there are too much better golf courses in Surrey , Berks and Kent.

Rubbish

Course is in poor condition, it is a shadow of its former self. Was very disappointed and will not be going back. Very over priced for its state. Save your time and money and go to a better course.

Very poor

This course is in very bad maintained condition. Fairways awful and greens in need of urgent works. It is known that the course is no longer under the stewardship of Crown and that many repairs are required to bring the course to a reasonable standard. This should however reflect in the green fees. Would not play this course at any cost at the moment.

very poor condition. Have played here many times over a 10 to 15 year period and never seen it this bad. Under new ownership I would have hoped to see it take a step closer to Pyrford just down the road but its gone backwards. The drainage is awful. Despite 1 day of heavy rain 72 hours before we played some holes still had standing water. The bunkers were like swimming pools and the greens were some of the worst I played. Very slow and needing a lot of TLC. We played on a Sunday afternoon and the place was very quiet and I'm not surprised. The layout is good but the quality is that of a £15 9 hole course for hackers. We won't be back.

Most bunkers were marked as ground under repair (despite most not having any work being done to them). The greens were recently sanded and the grass was extremely patchy. I played here two years ago and four of the holes were under water and most fairways were like a bog. With so much choice in Surrey, I'll be steering clear of Traditions. It's not as though it's cheap either.

Played this afternoon. Bank holiday Monday @3pm and pro shop was shut... Have enjoyed previous rounds at Traditions but course was in a very sorry state. Greens very patchy, didn't run true and not been cut in days, no definition to fairways or tee boxes, again not cut recently (more than a couple of days). Rubble/earth works lining 16th fairway. Most bunkers had grass growing through them or were GUR, as per Nicholas H's comments. Animal faeces littering the course, even on the greens! Won't be going back any time soon...

Sad to see how far Crown Golf let this course go while selling it. Tee boxes and greens are in terrible condition and fairways can't have been watered for months.

Staff is very friendly and I only hope that the new owners can restore the course to the level it deserves. The layout and holes are there, it just needs investment into proper maintenance.

Currently not remotely worth the £24 green fee.

To say was I was disappointed with Traditions is an understatement. The course condition was very poor indeed - shocking greens, poor fairways and stoney bunkers etc. Comfortably the worst condition course I've played anywhere. The layout itself is actually quite interesting and some of the holes are pretty tricky with ball placement being key on a lot of holes - you can't get away with too much on this course. We played as a society and had a meal after which was not great - the cost for the day being £50.
Shop around, there are far better courses for less money.

Greens were terrible, just been hollow tined. Would have been great if I was told before driving 50 miles to play the course. Rest of the course was ok, but pretty waterlogged. Not sure if it will be playable in the winter.
