Millionaires Golf

Seems to be the poor relation to Pyrford along the road but I have to say I prefer playing here. New owners are planning to invest through Winter and I think this will be a peach of a course next Summer. Plenty of good holes and never seems busy. Water on enough holes to keep it interesting. Needs the TLC they are planning but still plays well. Works for golf days as well. Reasonably priced. Practice facilities are a little below par.

Nice course, tricky in parts open in others. Course was in a bad way 12 months ago but is slowly improving. Greens a lot better, fairways could do with some more tlc though. Overall for early bird price of £20 its worth it.

Potentially a great course

Having played here numerous times in the past and seen the course in awful condition, I’m pleased to report the course is getting better. Fairways are in reasonable condition, greens have recently been treated but are much better than previously. Bunkers are starting to become in play although the contain plenty of rocks. Still think £25 off peak is too much but will certainly be back during the summer.

Great effort by the new owner and the greenkeeping staff to revive this challenging course. Lack of investment and maintenance by the previous owner left the course in a very poor condition. Course was in good shape considering the amount of rain overnight. Will definitely be worth visiting in the spring

Apocalyptic

After the world is devastated by an apocalypse, a group of blokes happen upon what used to be a course a year later... In an absolutely terrible condition (and it was clearly once a decent pay as you play). Fairways indistinguishable from the rough. Greens pure moss. Tee boxes in tatters. Looks like it has been bought to be run down and sold for development. Pro shop was the bar and the staff looked at me blankly. If the green fee had been £10, then you’d know what to expect but we paid £28 each. Virtually a crime to charge that. I’m a member at a pay as you play and fully understand it is difficult to maintain the course in winter but this looks like no-one has tended to it in months. Very sad but don’t waste your time.

Really worth a visit

I live very local to this course so try and play it often. As a high handicapper it is very challenging with one or two nasty shots over water. People complain about the state of tee boxes and greens, but really this is a pay and play course; other local courses are in a far worse state, but it is just accepted and no adverse comments are made.

It is not an expensive course and rarely crowded so perfect for those of us starting out or who enjoy a friendly game without being chivvied along.

I would highly recommend it.

Absolutely terrible

Despite having read all of the terrible reviews we thought it couldn’t possibly be that bad and for only £15 why not give it a go.....well it truely is that bad! Possibly the worst course I have had the displeasure of playing on. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers in awful condition for all but about 3 or 4 holes. I would recommend anyone who considers playing here just donates the £15 to children in need, it will bring you considerably more joy!

Twisted Stone, what's happened

It's been a few years since I played here and the club now has new owners. I have to say I am very disappointed with whats happened to the course. Lets start in the clubhouse. No chef on a Monday, so no food ?? What's that all about. For god sake, get in a chef to cover and make food available. The one member of staff I saw, was friendly though. As for the course, it has gone so far backwards, with terrible tee boxes, the fairways are just about ok after the summer, the bunkers are a disgrace, some with too much sand in, some with virtually none in and some just left as GUR. As for the greens, they are by far the worst that I have played on for years. We were warned on arrival they had been holotined and had a bit of sand on them, but really, it was like putting on Blackpool beach. Its such a shame that this course has gone so far downhill, as with a decent amount of investment from the new owners and a bit of TLC, it could return to a very decent course. Not a course I'll be returning to I'm afraid to say until some serious work has been done to it.

Course was in decent enough condition given recent dry spell followed by rain. Few greens could do with a bit of work but didn't appear to affect putting too much. Starter allowed us to go off a bit earlier than tee time which was helpful as we were out early. Nice sandwich and pint in the clubhouse post round. Bit pricey for £35 early on a Saturday morning given what it competes against.

A really challenging course but really loads of risk vs return holes. Course is under new management which will require intensive re-work of the greens. But I think once they fix the greens this course will be one of the most popular in Surrey.

So disappointing: the greens are in a very poor state - the majority have big burnt patches and are very bumpy. Tees are also in a poor state. Fairways are very dry/burnt, but that's understandable after the recent heatwave. However, no excuse for not watering greens and tees. Traditions GC (as it was previously known) was a good and challenging course: shame that the new owners (who renamed the course Twisted Stone) haven't looked after the course better.

Great layout, although, like every course at the moment it is a dry as a bone due to no rain in the past 6/7 weeks. They had an issue with the irrigation system on the greens a few weeks ago so they are a bit dry too although the pins are placed where the best part of them is. They do a deal for a two ball and a buggy for ?50 which is a reflection on the current condition. Worth a visit
