Decided to play here due to the deal on Groupon. The course has a few interesting holes however its in a terrible condition. They have a mole problem which leaves piles of mud on the fairway. The greens are untrue and are littered with pitch marks. This course is not looked after and i feel sorry for the members. Every other hole has a large metal areal which ruins the scenery. Several of the signs guiding you to the next hole are so weathered they are unreadable. One of the holes had temporary tee off position which was around 200yards closer to the pin? Our groupon deal included tea/coffee however we were told it wasn't, the lady behind the bar was unprofessional. The positive's, the bacon sandwich was delicious. Paying full price £30 is day light robbery. Play Hoebridge instead.

This is a a municipal course in disguise! Surprised as its part of Crown Golf, who are normally pretty good. The course layout could make this a pretty good course (well, half the holes) but is ruined by scrimping on upkeep costs - its too dry at the moment. I don't think I saw any green grass on the fairways, there was very little rough allowing me to drive 350 yards in places (an additional 70 yards to normal). The greens were in poor nick.

Other than that, it scores poorly all round. Shellsuits and swimming shorts seem to be allowed, as is swigging lager while looking for your ball (and not waving the group behind through). The food is poor and the bar area reminds me of a poorly decorated local Weatherspoons, while the changing rooms had no lockers and reminded me of local football team changing room. Our 3-ball took 4 hours 40 mins - with 5 minute waits on most tees. Poor (non-existant?) marshalling. There are better places for around the same money (I think I paid £30ish).

Will definitely avoid.

Plenty of water

This used to be another good pay and play but seems to be looking a little run down on my last visit which is a shame as this could be a decent course

An improving golf course. A challenge to play. Given a couple more years it will be good

Potentially a great course

Having played here numerous times in the past and seen the course in awful condition, I’m pleased to report the course is getting better. Fairways are in reasonable condition, greens have recently been treated but are much better than previously. Bunkers are starting to become in play although the contain plenty of rocks. Still think £25 off peak is too much but will certainly be back during the summer.

Course not in a great condition, but that might be due to the heatwave. Greens is going to take a lot of work to rectify.

This course needs a lot of work, greens are poor and lots of bunkers are GUR. However this is reflected in the green fee, £15 for a twilight round is good value considering the condition of the course.

Nice course but needs work

I play this course lots and for £15 twilight rate from 3pm it's good value. However course was in worse condition I've ever seen it to be, greens too slow with many bald patches, more bunkers GUR than playable and Tee boxes not very nice. Really hope management spend some money and get course in better shape as I always enjoy playing it.

OK but wet

As is ofteh the case here the water can make the course soggy quite quickly. However stilll a lot better than when it was traditions. Keep up the good work!!

Could be a great course but...

The layout of this course is really quite impressive making the most of the water features and terrain to provide an interesting and challenging round of golf. Unfortunately the maintenance of the course leaves a lot to be desired. Greens are in general poor and in some cases very bad with significant bare patches. Tee boxes could be much better too. This course needs significant investment if it is to compete with the many other first class courses in the area. At present the cost of play does not represent fair value.
It should be mentioned that on our Society day, the food was both plentiful and tasty. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Money needs to be spent here

I've been playing this course for a number of years and seen it go from good to bad and back again - not actually sure where it stands at the moment but it has improved during the course of the year. The greens are a major issue and the staff are aware but I am not sure what the plan is to put this right - I hope that they do as the course itself is a decent layout and a good challenge.

A few simple things could make such a distance - proper tee boxes , distance markers on the fairways ( seems like a no brainer, just put a few stakes in the ground ) and of course improving the greens and fairways.

Need some work

Overall the course could be good with a mix of tough holes. However in urgent need or some TLC. Played in this recent heat & it looks as though it has never been watered. Wouldn't rush back.

Unfortunately the greens are very rough in places and mostly uneven. The course itself needs work on green , fairway and some tee boxes. Would not recommend ?25 for here. Staff were pretty welcoming and friendly.
