The greens are knackered - some sort of mossy mounds growing on them. Now it's no longer cheap the main attraction is it's virtually empty.

It's only the second time I've played here, but since my first visit the general condition has gone downhill. The course itself is fairly open, although there are some interesting holes from 13 to 15.

When I played it in the summer a couple of years ago I thought the greens and fairways were in decent condition. However, playing it today both were in a very sorry state. The greens especially looked in a bad way with lots of moss.

There's only a portacabin to welcome you, so you'll need to find somewhere else to get a drink after your round.

Last time I enjoyed playing here, this time I didn't, so I'm hoping that it will improve with the weather.

This is a potentially excellent course which is on the slippery slope due to lack of maintenance. Greens are multi-coloured and surprisingly slow; 80% of my putts were under hit. Tee boxes are pretty rough and there are too many weeds everywhere. On the positive side, it is a great open setting with fine views and generally a pleasant environment. If you get the £15 deal it is value for money. We didn't book having looked at the online booking sheet which suggested the course would be empty, but it was surprisingly busy. Course is generally open but 14 and 15 beside a quarry are horrors with big carries to narrow enough spaces; there are dropping zones if like me you don't make it. The distance on the card for 14 looks to be too low.

This course is always playable through the wettest days in winter. Laying on chalk the drainage is very good here

Really decent good value course

Course is interesting and varied, quite hilly. Tee boxes are decent, fairways are a bit rough as are the greens but always playable except it in the worst winter conditions.

I'd sometimes rate this course a little higher but it was in poor condition last time I visited. The bunkers are always terrible (no sand, full of quarry rubble!) but the fairways clearly hadn't been mowed in some time and the greens were often indistinguishable from the surrounding semi-rough/fairway.
Most frustratingly this time was the rudeness of the starter. We were a 2 ball teeing off behind a 3 ball (3 relatively elderly men with a dog). As it's a short par 4, we waited until they had played their 2nd shots and started walking to the green before teeing off. As we walked off the tee the starter asked us to keep pace and accused us of being slow already, then threatened to come and check on us in his buggy during the round. This was after 1 shot and we played as soon as we felt it was safe! We could not believe it.

Clandon Golf Course is well layed out with some interesting holes. I found the greens quite difficult to read and probably they needed mowing. Surprisingly, the course score-card was excellent. Without a proper clubhouse, the facilities are very basic, so don't expect too much. However, given the green fee, Clandon is definitely worth a visit.

good VFM

Shortish open course and unlikely to lose your ball. Let down at the moment by the poor greens. The mixing of two balls and four balls can mean if you are the latter that your round gets longer and longer as you let the two-balls through.

Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the layout... fairways were good with some tricky slopes.... greens had just been tined / tyned?? And sanded .. So we're not the best , 3 putt city!! Overall though (when greens are ready) good little course

Mixed day

The weather was pretty atrocious with heavy rain and some strong breeze. That said, the location of the course allows it to remain largely dry underfoot and the greens were for the most part slow but true. A shame that the wildlife have taken to digging up tee boxes and the edges of some greens. If it weren't for that, you will be hard pressed to beat value for money.

Repeating gripe (and not necessarily the clubs fault) - other players seem incapable of raking the bunkers after paying a visit. Expect to find a crater or similar awkward lie if you get caught.
