Waste of money
It used to be that the Baroness primary and Baron secondary course but last year it seems that the Baroness was closed due to a lack of ground staff. THIS year the Baroness course is open again (played beginning of April) but it has not been maintained with greens VERY slow, in poor condition and no obvious signs of being reseeded. There are weeds in bunkers and overgrown fairways. The Baron course now seems to be preferred ( more expensive) course and although better maintained, it is still a long way off being anything like what any reasonable golfer would say was \"good\". Proper course management still seems to be deficient and whilst we saw several grounds staff (April visit) only one was seen cutting grass, the rest were either driving vehicles (going where?) or walking around chatting!! Someone needs to get a management grip before this potentially very good club completely loses all credibility.Reviewer Rating

Its really not golf!
Wow oh wow!!Hadn't played here for a while due to its poor condition throughout but got invited via a friend so thought I'd give it a go.
What a mistake that was. I have never seen a golf club in such poor state of repair and condition throughout.
The once hotel shut, pro shop which was excellent now shut, kitchen not serving any food due to it being shut down. We subsequently found out via a staff member that EHO had closed it.....wow!
We had to check in for golf in the bar and staff had no clue on golf. I really wasn't expecting the course to be up to be a we were not wrong. A farmers field is better prepared for golf than this place, I could go on about it but would take far too long. The place is appalling, lacks atmosphere is non-existent as there is nobody there. Service standards are non-existent and there is no care or attention & above all no investment for what seems and looks like 20 years!
Avoid at all costs as otherwise you will be as fed up as us.
Simply attrocious.

There’s more to golf than this!
Having not played this course for at least 18 months and wanting an early Saturday morning round I decided to give the course another chance. Teeing off at 8am alone I expected to make short work of it and be home before my crumpets had cooled....how wrong I was!!!The pro shop is now the bar and unsurprisingly is manned by bar staff with no knowledge of golf and seemingly no interest!
I was stuck behind a 3-ball from the 3rd hope to the 9th who refused to allow me to play through, completely unaware of basic etiquette and despite numerous opportunities!
I did however manage to rescue two pensioners and a Great Dane from the numerous canyons that can be found on fairways and greens alike! The tee boxes were rougher than a tramps beard!
I know it’s been a challenging summer for green keepers but without sprinklers or rakes in bunkers what chance have these guys got? The management simply don’t care! Any investment has been spent on signage reminding visitors that ‘practice facilities’ are for members only!
There’s greater golf experiences out there, such as Pirates Cove down Great Yarmouth seafront! The people, the course, the facilities.....dreadful!

Laughable & Grim
Played 2 weeks ago during the very warm period & accept that all clubs fairways are brown but come on, the greens were also brown in lots of places with massive cracks in them where you could put your fingers down! Clearly they are not watering their greens to save money or its not working. I'd go for the latter as upon arrival there was nothing in the alleged shop, not even golf balls, which my mate needed to buy, so we had to lend him so between us to last him.Food was also non-existent as apparently the kitchen has been closed down due to standards, according to a couple of downbeat members we spoke to.
All in all a very sad experience and one we won't be repeating, which is a shame as he layout is quite nice.

Poor golf course
The complex and both golf courses look neglected, heavily underinvested and lacking quality course management! The course was untidy, all playing surfaces we’re overgrown, with scatterings of cut grass everywhere, and all course furniture was surrounded with weeds and long grass. The greens were covered in debris and hadn’t been cut for a while and the bunkers were messy with no definition around the edges and lined with weeds. Aesthetically poor condition and a shadow of its former self! A shame, but would recommend spending your money on a round elsewhere!Reviewer Rating

Hmmm.....
Played on a dry weekday and the place was deserted. If you love a quiet course these are for you. If you enjoy well presented courses stay away, the place is a bog and very unkept and all areas of the course were weak, especially the greens with bare patches and I think the rough at my club would be quicker to putt on.
Obviously clubhouse was equally as quiet and staff seemed totally unmotivated as there were no smiles or welcome!
Kitchen is also closed so we left and went to the pub in the way home which was so much welcoming with good beers and food.
We won't be rushing back.

Such a shame!
Played the Baron, wow, the greens are effectively non existent with no grass coverage and cracks appearing making putting laughable.Rest of the place very unkept and makes for a very unhappy experience.
Pro Shop is an absolute joke with no stock.
Such a shame as the course could be a real gem.

The course is in very poor condition, the rough and fairways are far to long, and the greens are all in a terrible state. We were a four ball and paid £20 each which we all thought was way to pricey, for the state of the course.

Played on a fairly mild Saturday and the place was deserted, no wonder when the course was in such poor state.
Bunkers not raked, greens really bobbly and slow. I know it's winter but I've seen surrounds shorter at other clubs.
Tees are uneven and unhelpful to hitting decent tee shots.
Then we tried the food after, oh dear! At least their beers are good.
If you are looking for cheap & cheerful no matter of the condition it's the place for you. For everyone else stay away. Millbrook round the corner is more expensive but offers far greater value for money.

So they essentially had our tee off time, and whilst they were setting up a 4 ball arrived behind to queue up - this now meant we tee'ed off at the group behind us tee time, and they went off on the previous and so on. It was so busy, the first 9 holes took 2 hours and 20 minutes simply because they ignored the tee time booking system and let people go straight out and play at the same time as booked tee times.
It became really dull to play with ten minute waits at the tee, and then 10 minute waits on the fairway after the drive, and then ten minute waits after the following iron shot approaching the green - then repeat on the next hole and so on.
The greens were more large sand bunkers - which meant putting had about as much skill as blackjack. Ball was going anywhere the uneven surface took it.
All in all, a dreadful experience - first time we have given up mid game. Poor greens and a tee booking system that is redundant. Compared to other local courses this seemed run down and neglected, but perhaps that is why it is so cheap for a green fee. We shall not be returning.

We teed off on the 1st with an absolute dump of a building as a back drop, broken & rotten windows to boot. What a welcome!
Course was ok, could be really good but very poor condition in all areas throughout. Just smacks of a lack of investment and no care for the place.
At least they sell good beers.
However, probably not enough to entice us back. All in all a shame.

Just a field that looks very unkept, then trying to putt on the yellows.....sorry greens was appalling. Bobble, bobble, bounce, bounce all at a very slow pace. All in all dreadful & didn't dare go in the bar after putting up with that course.

Everything unloved, staff unfriendly, golf course needs blowing up as condition is the worst we had seen for a long time.
Good changing rooms but dirty.
Highly unlikely to visit again.
