Incredibly run down buildings when you drive in. A driving range with ripped netting all the way round which makes it massively dangerous, to a very unloved golf course. I say one as the other was closed when we played as apparently it got flooded in June, however it's now mid August!
We played the Baron & our welcome in reception/shop was good and the shop is the shining light, really well stocked.
Course was shocking, poor tee boxes, long rough and fairways towards semi rough length. Greens burnt & dry on their way to looking dead. Shame as layout is lovely and could be pretty good.
Bar well stocked with good beers and good service from bar manager Richard, but full of pretty depressed members. It's hardly a surprise, if it's in such poor condition all over how has it got a future?

We played Beadlow this last week and I have to say it's probably the worst maintained golf course I have ever played on.
The general course housekeeping is akin to the council cutting the road verges. Overall appearance is pretty poor and very agricultural.
The T-boxes are so well used in places that they look like a practice area. This is not to mention just how un-manicured they are as they are a mown patch surrounded by long uncut grass.
The greens are just about alive and very unreceptive . Worst of all is just how small these greens are. WHY? There is plenty of room to have some very generous sized greens.
Also most of the greens have an uneven cut. Well when I say cut I mean hacked. The verge about the greens are mostly brown & dead and really make the whole place look as though none of the staff give a stuff.
There is s lot of rough along the fairways , which is a shame. again there could be some lovely generous sized sculpted fairways with larger landing areas to target.
Generally this place is a shambles and I for one wouldn't want to pay to play here again. Which is a shame as there are actually 2 courses (Apparently) I understand the other is now closed for the foreseeable.
The general condition of this course in my opinion is a result of poor quality ground staff and ineffective greens keeper. or a manager who has no foresight and is incapable of giving direction.
I think the question is "would I want to join this club"? Most defiantly not.

A course still looking tired….
The place can change its name but it still hasn’t fully recovered from the old ownership. It needs a massive cash input to the course and a good bulldozer to some of the derelict buildings that still surround the estate. The yardage signage around the course needs updating as it still says Beadlow Manor, and it’s been a while since the club changed names! The course itself was lush but there was cut grass everywhere. Greens were ok but as expected quite bobbly and slow. It is a grass factory so the grass growth can get on top of the greenkeepers. Aprons, and bunkers were in reasonable condition but the fairways and rough were long. The tees need attention. If you go amongst the trees you will never find your ball again, the grass is far too long. It’s cheap to play and always busy, but it lacks finesse and looks worn out.

Work in progress
Having vowed never to come back 5 years ago we returned recently following some good reports about improvements made at the club. Allowing for the heatwave it was still evident that the course has advanced since we were last there. The tees and greens are noticeably better as are the bunkers. The narrow tree lined fairways are still keeping you honest. However one area where there has been no improvement and indeed shows a deterioration is the volume of golfers on the course at any one time, and the busy status on each hole. The waiting time definitely spoilt the round and we left the course after hole 16.Reviewer Rating
