Played 12th October 2012 . The first fairway and second tee give scant indication of what is to come over the front nine as you play over and around a series of lakes and ponds. After a period of heavy rain the fairways were solid and dry which made for good golfing conditions. Greens ran true although a little slowly. The latter holes are in a parkland setting where the chief obstacles are the mature trees which force you to plan the holes carefully. However, the absence of bunkers is very noticeable and unfortunately leaves the impression that the final holes are a little "samey". However, all told this is a very nice and different course for the area and was most enjoyable to play (even though it was blowing a gale). At £30 we thought it not particularly expensive in comparison with other local courses

Good course but no bunkers. Still challenging with the water and the length of course.

First time we played the course today having got a very cheap deal from one of the tee time companies for £12 each. Was superb value at that price but I'm afraid would be dissapointed at the regular midweek price of £38. The greens were the courses best feature and were quite fast but ran very true and were also receptive provided you play the ball in high. The course was long at over 6500 off the yellows and despite supposedly being the height of summer (do we still have them?) it played long because the fairway grass was too long to get any run at all. All drives seemed to stop within a couple of yards. The rough was also very long and penal however most fairways were pretty generous and so with the lack of run I didnt visit it often. The golf course was very nicely layed out with many doglegs and water features. Playing for the first time was difficult because there were only a couple of holes where you could see the green from the tee. The beautifull scenic surroundings and the country Mansion Hotel with gardens by Capability Brown gave the setting a distinct feel of class which wasn't even really spoilt by the planes taking off from nearby Luton airport. The course had the feel of a newer course that has yet to fully mature and I feel a little concerned that we hardly saw another golfer all day and with the greenkeeping which appeared to be being kept to a minimum my concern is, can they afford to run it if hardly anyone is playing there? Will play again if we can get another good deal. 7.5/10

Great course, plays like 2 different courses in 1 round. 9 holes are like a links course and the other 9 holes are big mature trees in a parkland course. Excellent value if you play a twilight round only £20. Beware off the rough, its tall straw grass, you can easily loose a ball, stay on the short stuff at all times.

Some of the best greens i've played on for the money. Nice flowing course, particularly the second half which is lovely parkland. Didnt use the changing rooms but if they are anything like the rest of the venue they will be good too.

A long course over 7000 yrds off the back tees - helped though by dry fairways so balls run a long way - good for the ego for the shorter hitters amongst us!

Greens nice and challenging but good roll on them. Oddly the course is similar to playing links although probably about as far from the sea as you can get in the UK!

Course is situated in lovely grounds. The course has no bunkers but challenging rough and fairways are tight on a few holes.
Twighlight price is £25 after 4.30pm which allows you just to get round if you tee off before 5.00pm.

Played this course at the weekend, its unusual because it has no bunkers! The rough is harsh enough to make it a test and I played from the whites at 6,800 yards. Its a pretty new course and it needs time to settle, a couple of lovely holes on the front nine and the back nine is a real test. Facilites were excellent, well worth a visit.

Something a little different

if you have a love for wildlife and a golf course that needs a lot of thought and confidence in some places. This one could be right up your street. There is a hole divided by water on either side that needs a good drive, a 245 yard par 3 as the hardest hole. In between there, there are doglegs , a lot of trees and water

Poor on all fronts

Poor mud everywhere and expensive for what it is. Greens uneven and when asked one Groundsmen he shrugged his shoulders and told me play somewhere else if my group didn't like it. Tell you played local council course week later, miles better and another course Redbourn GC both allot cheaper and better condition. Wont be going back in a rush need bring bank balance if buy any food or drink, even that was poor.

Expensive for what it is...

To be fair the date of this review is early February so I didn't expect the course to be in pristine condition. It was relatively dry but the mud seemed to stick to your shoes and ended up everywhere (I carried but those who took trolleys had to jet wash them at the end). The cost of the round was ?50 for a Sunday morning so quite expensive compared to others in Milton Keynes. Bacon rolls were ?6 and coffees ?4 so again not cheap. The course was in OK condition, greens a little lumpy (fair enough for this time of year) but having never played it before the signage to the next tees was awful (as was the signage to get to the venue). There are trees in the middle of the fairway on 2 or 3 holes - some dead where they seem to be getting rid of them? When we played it was blowing a gale and the course is pretty open which made it more challenging than normal. Overall I don't think it lived up to my expectations of a perceived 'quality' course although they seem to charge for the privilege. I couldn't really recommend based on that alone.

No bunkers!

Really lovely woodland course with mature trees, the greens had been treated recently so we're slow and bobbling at the time.
