What the club says: Caddington Golf Clubs 27 holes nestle beautifully on either side of a shallow valley in South Bedfordshire and offer a great golfing experience over its gently undulating terrain.

The 140-acre site was acquired by the McGee Group, land engineering specialists, in 2008, with the aim of making a substantial investment to make the necessary upgrades to existing facilities, bringing the club in line with recognised standards for golf, and to compete with other venues in the area.

The redevelopment has included providing wildlife habitats, and the planting of more than 6,000 trees, including oak, hornbeam, hazel and wild cherry, along with other plants and wildflowers as part of McGee’s commitment to the environment and sustainability.

Very wet and muddy

Not sure if the course should have been open it was a hard slog. Friendly staff and nice hospitality

Back again

Returned to play this course again. My daughter has recently moved into the village so it’s a natural choice when visiting. I played twice in the last week. The course is in excellent condition, particularly the greens which, despite the heavy recent rains, were exceptionally good and quite quick.

Tough?

I enjoy playing here, but tough today with the wind. Greens are always a challenge, but have to complain that they were hard in places. On several occasions myself and playing partners experienced ridiculously high bounces when hitting wedges from 100 yards or so?

Great course. Scorecard isnt correct!

Having played caddington a few times due to being close to where I live, the course is enjoyable, challenging with some hills and blind shots. A few tricky greens. Quite open so you can find an wayward balls which is great. When logging on and inputting my score, the scorecard is completely wrong. You say it's par 67 but is in fact 71. Some say they are par 3 but in fact a 4 and 4s actually a 5. Not sure whether its a quick fix and you can update this soon. But inputting score on this app will be pointless if this isnt changed. ????

Good course very challenging

The greens were very fast and challenging. The course was in good condition and now the rough has been cut down easier to find the wayward shot.

Caddington has improved immensely in the last few years. Course was in good condition after wet weather. Excellent value on a Monday.

Exceptional value for money

Have been a member here for a couple of years now and the place just goes from strength to strength.

The course is very challenging with a real variety of holes. Some long par 3s and short par 4s but every one you have to think your way around. It's always in good condition and the academy course is a great practice facility too

Does it have the luxury of some of it's illustrious neighbours - no, but it is homely, welcoming and does great food and drink.
The biggest compliment I can pay is that my friends who are members elsewhere and paying twice the fees are constantly asking to play here and even just coming back as visitors or bringing societies.

Challenging but rewarding course

We played a twilight round on a Sunday evening and were literally the only people on the whole course for 4 hours. This baffled us because this is a really good course and there should have been loads more players. This is a really interesting course to play - you need to think on every hole, course management comes to the fore and good iron play off the tee (even on par 5s) is rewarded. There are very few holes where you stand on the tee and think I’ll smash a driver and see what happens. Split fairways, strategically placed bunkers and interesting risk/reward holes (16th being prime example) make it a great course and elevates above the likes of Stockwood, Batchwood,Redbourn, Mill Green etc. Certain holes (5th for example) have a distinctly linksy feel, which is unusual in South Bedfordshire! Only criticism was the greens - challenging and split level in parts (10th is great) but WAY too many bobbles. It was late on Sunday but needed a huge amount of rolling. Frustrating to navigate a difficult hole and then miss a par putt due to a rogue bounce! That aside, really enjoyed it. Team were very friendly despite staying at work just for us. We will definitely be back!

Great value for money

I played in a society game. We had coffee and tea but no food. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The course is a real challenge for high handicap golfers but fair. Definitely worth a visit and very inexpensive. A bargain round not to be missed. I'm sure that when the kitchen is up and running that it will only add to a very good day.

This is an absolutely fabulous course. Very helpful and friendly staff, a testing course with very maroon fairways and difficult greens. We played midweek for £20 incredible value for money, definitely a hidden gem.
