Deceptively good

Woodcote Park has slick, undulating greens (we went in late November), deceptive bunkering making for difficult reading of length onto the putting putting surface, and lots of height variation. A top-quality design by Herbert Fowler. Some drives are a bit shapeless and trees are not used to full effect (The Berkshire, for example, does it better) but the shot variety, quality of putting surfaces and fine Surrey views make up for these few drawbacks. We had a very entertaining round, followed by superb hospitality in the RAC's grand country retreat.

On arrival you are in for a real treat.
The buildings are truly suberb but unfortunately once you have left the confines of the fantastic locker rooms it all goes down hill.
The course (old) is supposedly the better of the 2, but i have not played the Coronation so i cannot comment.
The lay out is far to up and back in places with fairways running parallel. This is understandable in an area where land is as expensive as Epsom but doesnt make for a great course.
The elevation changes are poorely managed with both blind up and down hill shots where there could be superb appetising aproaches and intersting tee shots.
The course was in excellent condition it has to be said, it is just a boring lay out.
I came away very dissapointed with the course and the money that we had paid for the green fee. However it isnt just about the course when you play here.
I would never put this course anywhere near the top 100 and i will not be going back to play again it when there are so many excellent courses in the area.
i just hope that other true reviewers have reviewed the course and not the surrondings !

Coronation course

Played yellow tees on a golf day after heavy rain. Some fairways muddy (but playable) tee boxes and greens (still fast) and in top condition. Course plays longer than the card with some elevations. No water hazards but lots of bunkers in top condition. much serious rough.
Posh - but friendly- and everything you could want in the clubhouse.
Will come back - I have friends who are members - but you can only get in with a member or on a golf day.
Get here early to park close to the clubhouse!

Played here in an inter club match in July on the old course. The course was in fabulous, almost perfect condition. The course is a par 72 and doesn't feel particularly long apart from 2 long par 4's. The course is fairly hilly, giving challenging lies and most of the greens are very well protected by bunkers. The greens were superb and in very taxing places throughout our day. Overall the couse isn't the toughest you'll ever play but its great fun. Club house delightful so definitely one worth making an effort for. £46 as a members guest seems a bit on the steep side.

Unfortunately the weather completely closed in and the Marshall advised curtailing the round after 9 holes as the greens were flooded. A challenging course but plenty of character. Fantastic club house.

Beautiful course

Heavy downpour before the round seemed to mean that some of the members decided not to play and hence the course was quiet. I was playing as a guest and prefer the Coronation course to the Old. Conditions excellent. Greens true. Hilly in places. No water. Rough reasonable. Loved the round and look forward to the next.

Very impressive setting. Facilities were excellent and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Played the Old Course which was in excellent condition given the weather conditions of late. Challenging with a few hills and interesting greens. Throughly enjoyed my first experience at RAC - thanks.

The coronation course is a great track, long par 3's and some very long and challenging Par 4's. You are able to get your driver out on most Par 4 and 5's tbough a few require careful planning off the tee so an iron is a better play.
