needs a cut

The fairways were like the first cut and the rough was truly penal. To be fair, a lot of work has been done and more was underway. In another couple of weeks the course could be back to its best.

a little gem

I really like this parkland course. Council run so you can always get a game. Good for the money. The layout is very good and nothing to hard. You could score well around here. Greens need some work but I understand its a council course so doesn`t get the funding or the attention. I play here a lot with my friends and we always enjoy it.

Always a favourite in the summer as its a loverly course with plenty of shade to be had on hot days.Not much in the way of facilities, a cafe which is good, a very good shop but a members only bar which is just crazy, it's not a private course so why turn away good money?

Great little public course. You can always get a game here. It has the potential to be a very very good course. Council owned so it's kept pretty good but needs investment. Fairways were fine. Greens played very slow today but they are usually slow here. Setting is great and plenty of trees which makes it feel like a mature course. Needs a bit more water and the bunkers need some sand in them.
I have played here quite a bit and will still keep returning. It's only £21 a round so can't really complain.

Tricky and short handi cap. Should be 70. Daunting rough but deceiving . Public course so some big trees and a lot of dense rough. Relatively narrow . A good test of a handi cap.

This is a parkland course with a lovely layout.

The only problem is that it is run by Brentwood Council! They just don't have a clue.

We played on a Saturday and the fairways hadn't been cut. There were times when we couldn't tell if we were on the fairway or not! The greens were very poor, very slow and bumpy.

If this was a private course it would be very good indeed.

Not particularly long but the 6th hole at 470 yards (par 4) is one to be played! It used to be a par 5 but they decided to make it a long, hard par 4. Shame they didn't alter the stroke index at the same time as this is by far the hardest hole on the course.

There is a cafe and a Discount Golf Store next to the clubhouse. You pay for the golf in the shop and they only take cash for the golf. You pay for the car park in June, July and August. Take you ticket into the shop and they knock it off the £20 weekend green fee.

This is worth a visit just for the nice layout, but be warned about the greens.

There arr no words..sometimes

Played as a group on a Saturday, charged full price . Yes we know there had been frozen conditions and Hartswood does not have great drainage so our expectations were low and we were not dissapointed...sadly.
17 temporary greens... now as far as I'm concerned this means greens off the main course but in reasonable condition to play some sort of putt. These so-called temporaries had not work done on them at all around the golf hole.... no excuses
I understand the need to protect the course and then at least make it playable. We regularly play here and enjoy it but this was disgusting... a rip-off off really.
