Great mature course
Other than the bunkers which require some attention, the course and particularly the greens are in superb condition(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 90 Handicap: 18.3)

Greens in great condition, and a beautiful mature course that has many challenges, not too mention trees to negotiate. 7th hole was out of action due to drainage work, but replacements were in good condition and challenging. Members very friendly and look forward to playing here again.

This was the first time I'd played Hartswood for probably over 15 years and it was just as good as I remember. For a local authority pay and play it is without doubt one of the best in Essex. I'm just sorry it took me so long to go back. It won't be so long until I'm back there for my next game.

First time I have played here and very impressed. Fairways and greens in very good condition. Tee'd off at 6.30am and course was perfect. Great shop and £21 for a Sunday was good value.

One of the best Pay & Play golf courses in the county. A little wet this time of year but I always go back in April and its great. Fantastic golf shop, all you could want. They have a great website to www.discountgolfstore.co.uk thats how we found them.

Hardly any sand in the bunker (on order by all accounts) otherwise it's incredible for a municiple course!!

Great value. Greens are in good condition this year (perhaps due to the rain meaning extra watering and fewer peope playing). Bunkers are just about OK - maybe 1-2 cm of sand. Not great for full blown splash outs, but not totally devoid either. Rough can be very long. A short but tight course - go off the light rough, and you can kiss your ball goodbye!
