Played this course a number of times over the years and unfortunately having played last week I won’t be playing again. Most of the tees are bare and burnt. The greens have got bare patches and disease. All round the place looks scruffy.

Terrible condition
Played it many times over the years and was always one of the best looked after courses in the northwest , but played it 7 wks ago & it was poor (we blamed the heatwave ). Today was even worse, greens poor, approaches terrible bare lies & sprouts of clumpy grass, fairways bare lies & untouched drainage channels, bunkers unraked, tees full of rabbit scratchings & again bare patches with tuffed grass. It looks like no one is working on it. We all decided its off our list of courses.(Round played: Sep 2018 - Score: 87 Handicap: 16.7)

Very hot but course was in very good condition except for bunkers they were baked,

Pace of play is a major issue
I played here on saturday 18/07, it took 5 hours and 15 mins to get around. Every time we got to a tee there was a group in the fairway and one on the green, 3 on the hole. I dont know if the members are slow or if it was lots of visitors. The main contributing factor to it was the set up of the course, the rough was ridiculous and people were spending loads of time looking for balls, dropping or hacking out. The first cut was 2/3 inches deep, the penatlies for just missing the fairway were unreal. The course is challenging as it is with all the hazards and quick greens. \\There is no need for a course to be set up like that for average and below average golfers, it just makes the pace of play painfully slow. \\The actual condition of the course is good and the greens are excellent, they just need to look at how to improve the speed of play, cutting the rough would make a big differenceReviewer Rating

The course is in excellent condition, greens are tough and fast. The only downside to the course is the time it takes to play. Waiting about 5 minutes on every shot. It took 2 hours 30 minutes to play 8 holes as a two ball. Not enjoyable, didn't finish the 9th enough was enough.

Played this course recently, very wet under foot, muddy in a lot of areas, nearly unplayable. Not the courses fault but not really that enjoyable given the condition of the course although greens were good. The course still looks new not many trees around, one or two interesting holes. Would have enjoyed it more if drier.

The greens and fairways were in good condition and there are a couple of challenging holes. It's also very cheap, so all the makings of an excellent review. Sadly the customer service was appalling, its generally not a good idea to shout at visitors for no good cause! Signage all round is also poor.
A friendly welcome and 5 or 6 more signs and it would have been excellent.

The course is developing quite dry and the greens are v good but the overall set up is only fair, a bit rough and ready in places. You can see that they are working to make it better...12 months time should be better!

first of the year
after the extreme weather we have had over the last few months it was expected that the course would be boggy in places however the greens were in really good condition(Round played: Feb 2022 - Score: 82 Handicap: 10.4)

A good municipal course
A well laid out course with a mixture of ravines, water, trees & some blind shots.The greens are absolutely superb except for the problem which haunts every golf club, pitch marks!! Why can't people repair them?
It lacks signage in a couple of places 14th to 15th & 17th to 18th, plus a couple of black & white markers, especially one on the 12th.
However I went out at twilight for ?10, bargain.
Overall a good municipal which I'll definitely be re-visiting

good test fast greens

Not the longest golf course in the world but the elevation changes and undulating greens protect the course quite well. The greens were great for the price we paid (£20) and they were the highlight of the course. Only downside was being stuck behind a Society and a competition, with the round taking nearly 5 hours.
