awesome course, needs a martial and members who understand "playing t

I have played this course several times and love the course, however had two bad experiences with slow play - I was on my own but teamed up with the 3 ball behind who had buggies (I play off 12 the others off about 18 and all played roughly too it)I really love the course and have always enjoyed it in the past however there was a major problem with the pace of play which needs to be investigated We found ourselves stuck behind 4 members, I may be wrong but they did not seem to be held up but we certainly were
1 yesterday involved a lot of waiting at every tee for them to clear the landing area -
2 on finishing the whole and making way to the next tee - we found that on 2,4,5,6,11,12,13,14,16 they were still on the tee when we got there (even bigger wait)
3 they took ages looking at 11 as they were looking for balls near the green (all 4 of use had a good view of the green and them faffing around)- and then proceeded to the 12th tee at an equally slow pace - did it occur to them whilst they were looking to glance back and see 4 players waiting ,,,, and waiting --- or did they just carry on regardless?
4 we arrived at 12 with them still on the tee and met the two ball behind us who demanded to play through (to be fair the 4 ball in front eventually let them through and reduced to 3! though it never seemed to occur to the to look behind and see us)
5 at 14 we had two groups waiting for them to get off the tee\\\\\\\\6 approach shots wait was ok until about the 9th where we were waiting ever longer on each shot
6 a smidgen under 6 hours - which is the second slowest I have ever played
(Whychford park in Cheshire was the worst)
a real shame - I personally LOVE this course - the three guys I was with all said "wouldn't be in a hurry to come back here " considering two were looking for a club to join -(and I would consider it too) not a great introduction

Years ago, the old scorecard used to have timings to say how long each hole should take--- Monday was nowhere near it on another occasion I was stuck in a 3 ball behind a four ball and every time we got to the tee - they were still on it - the 6th where 3 of the four were 3 off the tee - looked for lost balls (in vain) then trundled up at snail's pace - then tried to tell us there was nothing they could do as everyone else was slow! (though no one else was in sight!!!) at the 13th (a long par four, they proceed to take about 15 minutes to get not very far off the tee, then wait for the green 280 yds away to clear only to hit it a collective distance of c120 yds, and continue at the same pace (that hole alone took about 30 minutes to play lord knows what they scored !) they would have been quicker using a putter!

Played may 2018 - handicap 12 shot 83

Well worth a buggy!

Very nice course in a great setting with a good clubhouse/venue. Decent yardage to the course with some long walks between holes and it's quite hilly. Means it's good exercise for 18 holes or a buggy is a wise investment! Course in good condition, a little damp in parts but generally seems to drain quite well. Good variety of holes. A lot of greens had been aerated so they weren't perfect but were still pretty consistent and in good condition. Great value for money for a weekday afternoon and the course was very quiet.

Some parts of the course are still muddy, with some tee boxes not being used and mats being used for one fairway. All greens were open, and running true, pity some others had not repaired their pitch marks.
