What The Club Says

The picturesque 18 hole championship golf course is well known and respected having been designed by Course Architect, Howard Swan, around a 43 acre Royal Forest.

It is a most attractive course to play offering many interesting features in a wide range of varying picturesque settings including water features on the 14th, 16th & 18th fairways. It offers challenging golf with advantages which reward the low handicap golfer whilst encouraging the higher handicapper. The course is to USGA Standard, 6455 yards, Par 71.

We now have a 12 bay, Floodlit & Covered driving range, which was completed in November 2013. Prices start from £2.00 for 25 balls, £3.00 for 50 balls & £5.00 for 100 balls.

Needs some money spent on the course

Course played ok for time of year and the weather we've had, some greens were bit poor and the bunkers should of been gur as theres no sand and grass growing in them atm, hopefully with the better weather they'll spend some time and money on the condition but could see a decline since I played it a few years ago can tell the place is up for sale and obviously trying to spend as little as possible on the course.

Terribly slow rate of play

I understand that Saturday golf is always busy but the rate of play was ridiculous especially when your a 2 ball in a buggy . We were held up on the 4th hole by a group of 3 and a dog .
They never once called us through which was awful etiquette this meant we had a very long round . Course is great but ruined by how slow this was and lack of course etiquette . I wouldn't mind but this wasn't cheap . Think twice about returning.

Nice course - shame about the bunkers

The course itself is very nice and pretty challenging. It is quite hilly (definitely recommend a buggy) and features some really good holes, especially the par 3 holes protected by lots of trees.
However...it is let down by the quality of the bunkers. They are rock hard and have a lot of small stones in them. They really need renovation and the sand replacing with better quality stuff. At an absolute minimum they should be thoroughly raked every morning ahead of play to provide a proper surface.

another brilliant course in the West Midlands

Last month we played at Raven Meadow and were bowled over by the quality of the greens in such dry weather. This course was another beautifully kept one with the greens standing out from the arid fairways as oases in the distance! We had breakfast 18 holes and buggies which are sadly requisite here. And all in, it represented memorable value for money.

Best course in the area

I like to play different courses in the area and this one stands out for me. Exceptional clubhouse and facilities and all at reasonable prices.
The staff were very friendly and I really liked that they kept to the tee times and dress code. So no walk-ins dressed for the beach slowing down play or overcrowding.
I really liked the layout giving that feeling of going out into the countryside. It has wonderful views from the top of the hills snd is a challenging 18 with lots of
good driving holes. The greens were in good condition....fast and tricky. Really enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you to all concerned.

Mr

The greens are an absolute disgrace. Charging ?40 on a Sunday is an absolute joke, every green is horendous, and two tees are off mats. We went there Sunday 13th April, after i played there 5 times last year. The difference detween last year and this year is massive. The fairways and rough are great, but the greens are rediculous. You dont mind it if they are discounting the green fees to compensate, but i repeat - Charging ?40 is an absolute disgrace!!!

Worth a round if you have never played this course.

Overall an excellent course with some superb holes. Lots of mud would be my only complaint. And deffo not a buggy hire when its Buggy to path only. In summer I would love to play this when dry and running. Its a slog for an OAP like myself but enjoyable but tiring . Shame about the Pro shop. What happened ?. They had a lovely stocked Pro shop inside the club and now its a 'Shack' ?
