What the club says: Originally formed in 1975 as a 9 hole course, Little Lakes Golf Club has received substantial investment and remodelling to create what is today one of the most popular golf clubs in the county. The current 18 hole layout opened in 2000 to much acclaim and has rapidly established itself as a popular venue for many society, corporate and county union events.
The course, built on the edge of the dramatic Wyre forest (spectacular in the Autumn), is a traditional parkland course with a unique feel for encouraging shots more akin to links golf. Many water features have been added to enhance the course and to further develop the name and image of Little Lakes

Heavy hollow tinned greens in August drought
Course has potential, sadly whoever is running the show hasn't got the same potential. course badly needs a lot of water. I'll add members are very friendly and bar and food / drink excellent tbh. but a good course is all about quality tee's and greens and this had neither on my visit. I'm glad I played but won't be back in a rush. nice lodges tho and pool.Reviewer Rating

lovely course, great scenery, tricky
i have played this course multiple times. it is not long, but does not have to be. there are some fantastically tricky holes. uphill, downhill, left to right doglegs, right to left dog legs, blind shots........this little gem has it all. great scenery as well, running through the seven valley. when the course gets hard due to dry weather, even more of a challenge to keep it on the short stuff. green/bunker condition very good. swimming pool on the facility, if you fancy a dip after a round of golf that has it all.Reviewer Rating

Very good
I played the course on 08/06/2022 and found it very good. Tiring walk is an understatement.I had seen an earlier review mentioning the 10th hole being confusing and i totally agree. There were 4 of us standing on the tee and in front of us were 2 fairways and the tee board with a hole layout on wasnt very clear. My 3 partners all said it was the right hand fairway but i was convinced it was the left. I suggested we all played it as we each thought.
I was correct so when you play it for the 1st time just go for the left hand fairway on the 10th tee.
We also had a great carvery afterwards so just go and enjoy the complete set up

Poor condition
We play this course as a society every year and always enjoy the challenge, however this year the greens, tee boxes and bunkers were in such poor condition we are really considering scrubbing this course from our society calendar going forward.1) greens - mostly dirt, full of bobbles, tram lines causing uneven bumps. Severely need watering/reseeding. No chance getting ball to stop. The whole society agreed that the greens were unplayable.
2) tee boxes. Need watering. They were rock solid and a lot it was difficult to get your tees in the ground
3) bunkers. Really low on sand. Most were like concrete and again largely unplayable.
Really disappointing considering we play this course every year.

Nice course, friendly staff, return needed when less muddy!
We actually visited the course around a month earlier but gave up after taking 2hrs for six holes being stuck behind a Seniors Society who were late teeing off. Staff were very good and apologetic about it and gave us vouchers for a free return visit with buggies. Just a shame the weather in the week of our return visit wasn't up to much. There had been a good few days rain but buggies were back in play and no temp greens. However, the course doesn't seem to drain that well as even with a couple of days reprieve from any downpours it was still quite sodden with one or two poor fairways. Overall though the condition was pretty good and the greens were still in good shape and ran true. Nice variety of holes and a good test of golf with some tricky approaches. Nice rural setting and definitely worth a visit, on our return the course was virtually empty so I think we just caught an unfortunate day with our previous slow play experience. Can't argue at the £15 price we paid!(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 105 Handicap: 26.5)
