One to avoid during the next 6 months

These used to be a very good coirses. However, in the last 10years, they have gone very downhill. The Hurricane course has been chopped about, and not done well. The iconic 16th tee at the gate, and greens near the clubhouse has gone. Shame. We played the Spitfire, always the better of the two. The layout is good, but the quality was poor. Bumpy greens, bare patches on the fairways, and the mud !! Oh dear. Yes, there's been a lot of rain, but others nearby are in much better condition. Almost unplayable. Not worth a visit til well into Spring next year.

thick grass

The grass wasn't short enough in fairway or first cut, and so second cut was difficult to find the ball. Then on top of that add grass clippings, leaves and horse chestnuts means a 5 yard miss difficult to locate.

Played in a charity golf day which was very well organised....however I didn't like the course, difficult to find a flat area to tee off from, fairways hard as nails and if you hit a good shot you got some unbelievable kicks anything other than forward.....glad I didn't pay for it.....

Greens were just hollowtined and dressed.Lots of sand on them which made putting a bit of a lottery.Course looked tired but will go back and try it again when in better condition. Not worth the £30 paid to play it.

I have played this golf course a number of times for various invitation days over the past few years and it appears that there is a noticeable and continuous decline in the quality of what is described as 2 excellent courses. Spitfire:- standing on the first tee it is noticeable that there has been excellent reshaping of this hole, unfortunately that is where the excellence ends, as with most tee boxes on this course, they should be in better condition at this time of year, the ball will gather mud even on the fairways and to cap it all on the 1st you must play all of your shots off a tee peg to avoid stone damage. The greens can only be described as being like puddings and it is like putting through treacle, I was assured that they hadn\'t been hollow teigned recently. I played in September and came off the course with muddy trousers!!! Bar food is served all day and and is OK but a little pricey, drinks prices compare with London prices. I played the Hurricane course recently and it is below the standard of its counterpart although the some members told me things were going to change and it was being put back to \'how it was before\'. There are so many excellent golf courses in Kent, sadly these are not 2 of them\
