The freezing conditions didn't take away from what it an interesting course. Greens and fairways in good condition for the time of year. The front and back 9 feel like different courses which provides a good test.

Despite the rain in the early hours of morning (most areas flooded) the course stood up well and the fairways remained firm. Club house friendly and welcoming. The 17th and 18th are great holes

Good facilities, quite hilly, new buggies. Apparently can be very wet, but dry for us and greens rolling fast. Could do with some more maintenance, mainly filling up drainage works where ground has settled. Will visit again.

Quite hilly but very nice course. Disturbing hedgerows across some fairways proving challenging. Excellent facilities.

Front nine very testing, hilly but with fantastic views over london. Back nine much more open, perfect for the big hitters. Greens were excellent, reasonably fast and very true. Course overall very well maintained. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed playing The West, very very friendly and only marked down due to having to play off mats on a number of holes but it has been wet otherwise thoroughly recommend this course and club.

For a course that's voted top 4 in Essex the course wasn't in great shape. Wasn't able to get breakfast at 9:30 as bar was shut. Greens had not been whipped which was disappointing and the course was so so wet. Drainage is very poor albeit we've had a bit of rain but courses I've played in the top ten ( Chelmsford, toothill, canonsbrook etc) are a lot firmer under foot. I will go back but not until the weather improves.

Lovely course. Front nine tight, back nine longer and more open few interesting holes not always reaching for the driver off the tees. Food very good too.
