What the club says: The course has a reputation for being one of the most demanding in Middlesex because of the superb design by the world renowned John Jacobs OBE. In 1988 the course was developed into a full 18 hole configuration with the new holes enveloping a large lake and conservation area.

Avoid.
Playing a 'twilight' round at 17.30. Was mis-informed that this was considerably cheaper. No. Full rate of ?21 although we would not be able to finish round. Staff rude and uninterested. Looked like the course had been completely neglected for weeks/ months. No sand in bunkers, fairways unmowed, greens lumpy and unkempt and covered in weeds. Heard it may be closing down. No loss. Shame, has potential to be a nice course. Will not return.Reviewer Rating

Lee valley golf course in the winter/spring
Played this course quite a few times but on this occasion fairways had not been cut short on quite a few holes so it was like playing out of the rough , hopefully once the weather dries up a bit more they will attend to the fairways and greens but all in all I enjoy playing there good prices aswellReviewer Rating

It has its place in the world
The negative...- Tee boxes aren't in great condition.
- Fairway grass is too long. Some of it feels like you are in light rough.
- Greens are in bad condition and are unrealistically slow.
- The clientele don't seem to care about repairing pitchmarks
- Bunkers are just not maintained properly.
The positive...
- Price is reasonable
- Some very tight and challenging holes for any level of player
- Superb course design
- No stuffy dress code
- Open to all
Summary...
I generally play at private clubs and if you are used to courses in very good condition you will be disappointed. However, this is a low priced, municipal course and expectations should be set accordingly. This is a fabulous facility for the beginner, high handicapper or anyone returning to the game after a long break. It's worth having a look if you're a better player, the challenging layout might just tempt you back. It has its place in the world... it's open, accessible, cheap and will attract non-golfers and beginners as well as more regular golfers. Despite the condition, I actually enjoyed my round and the challenge. I'll definitely be back as I have a son who has just taken up the game and for this it is perfect.
I couldn't help thinking that with just a bit more maintenance and management this course could be one of the best.... but then again, it wouldn't serve the community as it does today.

Had not played here for at least 10 years. Surprised by how good condition the course was in. Some challenging holes, narrow in places, but great value for what it is. will play here againReviewer Rating

Decent course. Needs work doing on it
I've played here many times. It's a well designed course actually, with some great holes like the 4th, 6th, 8th, 14th and 18th especially, and some very tricky holes. However when we recently played the course was in need of some attention. I appreciate due to current circumstances many courses have been closed - but the greens need weeding badly, and forking. Some holes had very kept fairways, and rough that was worse than normal, and sadly one of the greens may have been vandalised. Friendly girl working on reception though and a nice laid back environment as usual here.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 98 Handicap: 25.6)

Excellent value
Ok, so this is not 5* but for the money, it can hardly be bettered. Some of the tee boxes and greens are in need of attention (overlooking rubbish strewn on the margins of some of the fairways) but for a beginner / intermediate, this course is a gem. Members are very welcoming.Reviewer Rating

At least it was open!
After finding the course we were scheduled on to be closed & ringing round another 7th, this was open! We were so pleased that very happy to overlook some facets normally associated with down grading. Indeed every tee was open & every green no a temporary. And unmatchable value for moneyReviewer Rating
