Better than expected
I was really impressed with my game at Ufford Park.Having visited only once before - a good few years ago - I was really impressed with how much better the course was this time round, we played in their open comp so the course was set up super tough but it was very fair.
Some of the tee shot require a good bit of thought, you don't need to hit driver everywhere but when you do it feels really demanding - that said we did play from the white tees that were pushed back. From the yellow tee it would be much more friendly.
The fairways were great and bunkers too, the greens were rolling really well and pretty true also.
I think this place gets a bad rep from years gone by, the layout is quirky and condition is really good.
This is a really good course for a stay and play. Its turned into t a course with a hotel, rather than a hotel with a course.

Good hotel and course
This venue was our 'Club weekend away' for 2017, and we had about 40 attending, with most of us playing golf (6 or 8 non-golfers). The course seems to be well laid out, with holes varying between very shot and very long, e.g. I played 9 iron, wedge to a par 4, but their stroke index 1 was close to 600 yards, uphill and into the wind!!. Greens seemed quite slow, but I put that down to some rain we had making putting difficult. Quite a lot of water, especially in front of a few greens, and that makes it tricky if you're not playing well, or not confident with you game. I lost a lot of balls, but also found more than I lost, just not the ProV1's I'd been losing!!! Bunkers seemed reasonable, fairways and tees were looked after. Pin positions weren't moved in the 3 days we were there. The hotel didn't seem to be too busy, so we never had a problem meeting our tee times. Food was good and most people seemed to find the drinks they liked in the bars. I felt the restaurant was a little cramped for breakfast, which is probably my only gripe.Reviewer Rating
