The course is very tight and challenging with strategically placed bunkers, however, the standard of the bunkers a awful as are the fairways. The greens have some barren patches and rabbit damage. The new clubhouse is very good and the driving range is being completely rebuilt. The course would be better if the sand in the bunkers was omitted as they are never raked, and thats if they even have a rake.

Im a big fan of tilgate but not in the winter and not after a bout of heavy rain. Very boggy in places, all winter mats and a few plugged balls. Greens were OK. Clubhouse is a portacabin, new one planned after fire. In the spring, Summer its a different story. Hardest hole def the 6th.

A very wet Tilgate

Afteer the previous days rain all the fairways were sodden and at least 2 greens were very spongy. No run on the back but not that many plugged shots either. Tees were ok and Greens obviously responsive. Shame I can't chip up to the hiole!!

Golf in the mist

Played the course in the mist last weekend, course was in better condition than expected. Yes, about a third of the greens were temporary, and poorly maintained, however the rest of the greens were in good condition and ran true. Pity my putting wasn't up to scratch! Yes, the course was muddy in places, but where isn't after the recent spell of rain? Generally the course was fine and I look forward to playing there again soon.

not as bad as the reviews I read

Yes, there are 6 temporary greens, and they are a pain, but the other greens were Ok for this time of year. Had to play of mats which I loathe and couldn't see why. Course directions were poor too.

Let down by greens

Such an enjoyable, tight course woven through the trees. Only let down by the state of the greens.

Great layout, beautiful flowers and foliage

Very beautiful but challenging layout. Narrow fairways, deep forest and rough. Fairways were rock hard, providing lots of roll, even when you didn't want it. Greens very patchy.

Suffering a little after Covid

Seems that as a public course not much has been done over the lockdown period. Bunkers......what is sand? Greens showing need of TLC but fairways cut and rough, in places high but forest around and in course prevent too much growth.
