Stay away
Very badly maintained greens not cut and very bumpy no information for the temp greens so didn't know they were in play till you got to them. Won't play ever again.(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 112 Handicap: )

Not worth t
Sadly the course is in the poorest condition I have ever seen. It looks like it's been used by walkers for many months. No fairway grass, Poor greens, temporary greens, swathes of walkers, huge areas of bare patches that will not recover this year. The only positive was seeing some greens under reconstruction. No course care and does not deserve 3.8 rating
A friend booked tee times for end of December to play here, I saw a 3.82 rating and read reviews here, I should have been warned by the scattering of terrible reviews. It was very much that way. What is a nice course layout is ruined by complete lack of maintenance, doesn\'t look like a groundsmen has visited in months. All mats for tees, 7 greens were temporary and the others may as well have been, grass was an inch thick on greens.Reviewer Rating

It’s not a golf course it’s a public park, don’t waste your money on playing here, they are shutting courses down around this area that are 100 times better than Tilgate, it should be the one to go. People walking over greens with their dogs, dog mess in the rough. It was hard to tell which 5 greens were temporary as all are in such bad condition. Don’t waste your money, they should pay you to play there.

We booked online and paid £25 each - was not informed of any offers. I played this course a couple of years ago and have to say the overall condition of the course has deteriorated considerably. The tee boxes were very uneven and this is a real problem on a course with such narrow fairways. I have always loved the challenge of Tilgate and believe that with the right investment and maintenance, this could be one of the best courses in the South of England. Some of the greens were very patchy and the bunkers a real mess - hardly any sand and terribly unkempt. I felt really disappointed with the overall condition of the course and sadly will not play there again at £25 per head. There is better value to be had elsewhere.

played the course today, greens covered in sand, bumpy or bald. bunkers poor with no rakes. Twice watched ball plug in mud so deep ball was lost. There were more dog walkers wandering around the course than golfers. This could be a great course but it all looks a bit tired

Played Mid August , greens dried out and suffering lack of water , bunkers like holes on the ground no rakes , no sand and not worth the visit !
