What The Club Says

The Griffin course was originally designed as a 9-hole, but quickly took shape with another 9-holes following almost immediately. The course is noticeable for its lack of bunkers as it benefits from a combination of tricky tight fairways and small greens, requiring accurate golf to make a score here. A person who thinks their way around can really make the most of the shorter par fours and avoiding the water is always a good play.

The Phoenix course is the smaller of the two courses and offers a great introduction to golf with some easier holes as well as a test for the more complete golfer. Both courses wind through tree lined areas but the Phoenix has a more open middle section to allow players a bit of freedom.

Short 9hole

Not too bad. Drying up too quickkly so a few bare patches around. Greens OK. Tees a bit under grassed. Definitely 2nd fiddle to 18holer on Griffin

BEtter than Expected

No rain recently but no sun either. Course was holding up much better than expected. The usual areas were boggy but on the whole could feel I was playing the course and not the conditions A couple of mats but no temp greens. Feel the course is one deludge away from being very sticky though.

Tried to rain but course in good knick

Though it raied last night and this morning, course in good condition. Greens true and a little damp but on the whole nice to get a round in after so long. Playing off Whites was an Eye opener on some holes

Nice course but very short

The course protects itself with its undulating large greens. PAr 3's under 130yds. Longest par 4 is the last at 347 yds which is a slight dog leg to left and plays across 4th fairway

Still very muddy and short 18th

Fairways were still quite muddy and sticky. Chipping suffered for it. Greens not maintained yet. You can see that these were full of water, i.e. water table. just recently. Work on drainage but greens will need a lot of work soon if not maitained

A very soggy Phoenix at Cottesmore

Impressed with layout but not a difficult course. Very soggy though. Plenty of room and plenty of scope to improve the course. But, for a secondary 9holer, not bad

Looks great

Recent work has seen the course in very good condition. Great to play after work and can still finish before it gets dark. Completely different course compared to Winter weather.

1st Visit - Would love to return

Really great venue - both courses a delight to play. A mixture of everything, with well placed hazards and a fantastic environment. Well look after, although some of the tee boxes looking well worn, which isn’t surprising as I’m sure this must be a very popular venue. Our society will definitely return
