Played this course for first time, greens poor, tees poor and temp greens on the second turning it from a par 5 to a par 3, was warned but the second looked like a building site, a shame as the greens looked challenging but with turf missing and no grass on some holes made it impossible to play.

Could be better

Greens and fairways excellent the tee boxes could be better first time visit since the change in layout and preferred the old layout. Poor signage for holes and lots of holes with no markings for the price should be better

Disappointed!

Whilst the course was in fair condition, was very disappointed in their 'customer care'. On arriving went to Pro Shop to get electric trolley. However, first battery wasn't charged properly then, having had to fit replacement battery myself couldn't see any charge light, only to be told 'oh that one's a bit iffy try another'. Having already fitted bag to trolley and no offer of help to change over to new trolley had to do everything myself. Couldn't care less attitude, very disappointing. Course in fair condition, but some greens with areas of sand (but no indication that the sandy areas were GUR so had to putt over them). Greens very soft and spongy (left foot prints), and didn't smell to good either. Food after game was very disappointing - sandwiches and chips didn't look particularly appetising, and the cheese ones came with a chutney that tasted off. Could do a lot better.

A little too short and not over.y exciting, tiny greens punished particularly good play. Greens were not in great condition, however, this is a 2nd course, the other course on offer at Cottesmore looked amazing.

This course is in need of some serious TLC. It's the 'sister' to a very, very, good course and is clearly the poor relation. Ok it can be played for as little as a tenner, but in it's current condition that's all it's worth. We were at Cottesmore for a weekend break and thankfully had the Griffin Course to look forward to the following day.
Worn, unkempt, tee boxes, poor quality greens and the rough isn't particularly well managed either. Saw more than a couple of people playing it in track suit bottoms and trainers, despite a very large sign on the first tee box about dress code. (Perhaps that would be better placed outside the pro shop, and enforced by the shop staff.)
It's a shame because it is a challenge, due to the tightness of many of the holes and the fact that, because it's so short, you really need to think out what you're doing because you'll be playing a very different selection of shots off the tee.
To be frank we lost interest in scoring and just had a skins challenge between the two of us to try to rise above the disappointment.
One word of note is the fact that they've set out blue tees for juniors and there were quiet a few kids out with parents in tow. Someone does need to teach them some etiquete though, wayward shots brought no call of 'four' despite being very close to us.

Greens very much of a lottery as sanded and spiked. Spoilt the round as reading a line was impossible. Be nice to be informed of this before playing / bookintg as would have gone elsewhere

Very well laid out course a bit challenging and a long walk with very nice surroundings , some holes are very difficult but great to learn. Keep it straight you will be fine

OK course but far too many par 3's, four in the back 9 alone. Greens absolutely awful, bare patches, holes and bumps everywhere.

Good course but bit of a walk so would recommend a trolley at least- especially if playing off the whites.
