Pleasing condition

Haven't been to the course for a while for obvious reasons, but upon playing the course the condition was how I remember from years back.

Played Three Locks a couple of weeks ago on a lovely sunny Sunday
I thought the course was in excellent condition
There some interesting holes with a lot of doglegs and the course could definitely benefit from a) a course map on the card and b) better directions from green to next tee as we spent a lot of time wandering around unsure of where we were going! Particularly playing 17 and 18 where there is no clue that the 18th tee is behind the 17th tee and you have to walk the whole length of the 17th backwards to get to it. As I say local knowledge and a map would help.
Clubhouse was very welcoming and smart and the food and service was excellent

for the weather conditions course is in great shape well done.
The only thing i would say it would be nice to be told that there was a club competition and we was in the back of 60 balls and in front off society event as well so it was really slow play.
breakfast is ok but not worth £10 expected a bit more food for the money.
and the larger was not the best quite flat other than that it was ok.

Basic Course but in very good condition

A really nicely set course with some lovely views.
There is no bunkers which is a shame, lots of trees and a bit of variety in layout.
Water traps are spread out almost everywhere.
Some very short holes. 2nd hole downhill and about 75 yards so half a PW.

All in all a nice enough course but would expect it to be ideal for beginners to start off.
Expect to hit minimum 80-85 if you play regularly and under 20 handicap.

Course as always in great condition

For those that haven't played here, it's well worth a visit with some memorable holes and many different ways to play the course which keeps it interesting. Bad shots are punished with plenty of water and out of bounds. Greens are a challenge too, fast and undulating in places. Course is always in great condition all year round, never a temporary tee or green.

The only two negatives are 1) Pace of play. Whenever it's remotely busy, it's usually 4 hours 30 mins even playing as a 2 ball as there?s no point trying to play through as your immediately behind the next group. If it's quiet, the course is easily played in 3 hours 15 mins. 2) lack of practice facilities. There is a small putting green and an unkept chipping area between the 12th and 14th holes, you have to walk a reasonable distance to get there, crossing over a green or tee box to access. A simple net area near the putting green would be good to be able to get loose before teeing off at the 1st.

Clubhouse is great, as are the staff. The bacon rolls are some of the best around. Really good to call ahead from the 5th and collect one on your way to 7.

Nice course

Played 3 locks and it was very good condition from fairways to the greens. The greens were in really good condition and they looked quite quick but they were in fact quite slow, but receptive. Only issue was that the tee boxes need some work as they were more undulating than the greens.

This was my first visit to Three Locks GC, and first things first - try to arrive at the club from the north. I came from Heath & Reach (a village south of the club, and it involved 4 miles of single track Road. Luckily it was a Sunday, and no traffic coming the other way AT ALL). Then the entrance - it says Bistro/The Venue - this is the golf club entrance. The course itself starts with an uphill tight driving hole, and the first 6 holes are hilly and rather tricky, but then you get to the flat part of the course which involves the river, and quite a few bridges over it. I don't know if they do a yardage chart, but it would have helped. There were 20 of us, and only a few had played before and knew where they were going. I found the holes interesting, and the two holes which cross each other (14 and 15) did not cause any hassle, as everyone can see each other! Greens were pretty tricky, although following a night of thunderstorms, they were probably a little slower than normal. The rain had drained away very well, so no puddles around. Only visited one bunker, and there was plenty of sand. Tees, fairways and greens were all in good condition. The round seemed to be quite slow, but we were 5 four balls, and our group was out last. Our package included breakfast, and the food was good and hot, and arrived quite quickly when we were all there. Small clubhouse, and as there was a child's birthday party on when we finished, we had to sit on the patio to present prizes, but this was certainly large enough for our group and the players in front and behind us, but I suppose we were lucky it was sunny - don't know where we would have gone if it had been raining. Overall I enjoyed the course and looking forward to returning, as I think this course will be easier on subsequent rounds.
