What the club says: The Course was designed by Sir Henry Cotton (winner of the Open Golf Championship in 1934) and was opened in 1972, the Golf Course & Centre is managed by 1Life Leisure on behalf of Milton Keynes Council
The course is basically flat with no steep hills to climb (good for the heart) and has only short walks between greens and tees. It measures 6,388 yards from the yellow tees (par 73 and SSS 70) and measures 6,709 yards from the white tees (par 73 and SSS 72). In the winter months, the Course continues to play off the grass tees, we are proud to say we never play off mats or temporary greens at any time during the year.

Real shame
This used to be a really nice course a few years ago, but right now it seems to be in decline. Greens were in a poor state as were most of the tee boxes. I probably won’t play here again.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 92 Handicap: 14.5)

Good course
Very nice course....lots of woodland and trees....some very tough pin positions....but a really good value public pay and pay course....well worth a visit(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 111 Handicap: 21.6)

Poor, needs attention and urgently.
No course marshaling, even in these unparalleled times. No four balls allowed but, 2 balls when away from the clubhouse were merging to form four balls and not social distancing. Reported to ground staff, who were not interested! The greens were in poor condition, extremely uneven and had bare patches, considering the time they had not been used.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 97 Handicap: 21.2)

Bad greens
The greens in December 18 were in the best condition I've ever seen at Windmill, but they've dramatically gone downhill since then and are in a bad way right now. Windmill is always a challenge as it's such a long and straight course but you're not heavily punished for being offline. Just need to sort the greens out.

On the slide?
Booked a 10:30 2 ball tee time, but when I arrived they had no record. Fortunately I remembered the name of the person and they “fitted us in”. Next thing noted was that the dress code had gone out the window. One player wearing denim shorts, another with a tee shirt. Also slow play - it took until 12th before the four ball (who had no one 3 holes ahead 9f them) let us through. Tee boxes were in poor condition as were the greens.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 87 Handicap: 17.4)

Great twilight round
Second time playing here and again very pleased. Ideal for a twilight round, amazing value for money. Course is in good condition, with tees and greens all above average for a curse of this type. Will certainly be back on a regular basis. Managed 16 holes but only due to my own time limits, could have done a complete 18.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 47 Handicap: )

Very good
Quite challenging for a high handicapper like myself, nice course though.

Getting better
Windmill Hill has been open since the 1970's and is a Henry Cotton designed course. Over the last few years it has suffered in its maintenance but in the last 2-3 years OneLife took the running of the course over and just recently it has started to improve. I have played it several times this year and it does seem to be getting better. Most recently I played 20/12/18 and, although a little soggy in places, it was in far better condition than I expected, both greens and fairways. Bunkers were not great though. In fact, I found the grrens fast for the time of year and weather conditions. On the day we played, there was a four ball in front that refused to let us through and there were several 2 balls stacking up behind, so some form of marshalling would be good.
